As the board grows, we have 14 new members already this year, I think we can advance our cause by getting some sort of official recognition as a community organisation.
I put out a few feelers over the weekend with this result.
Hi there.
I'm currently involved in a new website for Australian Pensioners who have problems with Government organisations.
We're looking at directing people to the right sources of information as well as building our own data base.
As our group gets larger I was hoping you could advise me on getting some type of official registration as a community organisation,
regards,
Dear Banjo
Thank you for your email to the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs seeking advice about registration as a new community organisation.
Australian state and territory government agencies have responsibility for the regulation of community organisations established in their jurisdictions. The South Australian Government provides useful information about establishing and managing community organisations in South Australia on its website at www.sa.gov.au/subject/community+support/Community+organisations.
If you are interested in becoming an incorporated organisation, you may also wish to read the information provided on the OurCommunity website at www.ourcommunity.com.au/management/view_help_sheet.do?articleid=13 and the South Australian Government’s Department of Trade and Economic Development website at www.southaustralia.biz/library/Incorporation_of_Assoc.pdf.
I trust this information is of assistance.
Kind regards

Any suggestions? I'd rather have Federal recognition that State.
