Anyone had any regular experience with these? In the past I have found them ridiculously over priced, usually about 80% of a return fare. The budget airlines do them of of course but my current location would add a domestic flight to the cost.

You are exactly right Banjo, one way is nearly as expensive as return even if its Jetstar.

JetStar ADL>BKK $630 online. Air Asia MEL>BKK about $421.
The cheapest ADL>MEL connection I can find is over $100 and leaves me in MEL all freaking day. (I'll spend another 100 drowning the pain)

Banjo from Adelaide as I have pointed out, you have to go backwards in Oz first to get one way cheapies. Cheapest is Jetstar $379 Adelaide to Singapore two flights and 10 hrs in Darwin. I would rather know I am in Darwin or even Perth though, than the cheapest Gold Coast pathway, because you know you are half way there. So to save about $250 you will be made to suffer, and I would spend that in the stopovers. No one uses travel agencies or even WebJet anymore . . . since the discount airlines have tailored their one way fare systems for us online. DIY mate. Forget advice.

Banjo, Dont be such a cheap charlie, how much money are you going to save by not having to do a return every 6 weeks. The cost is not important getting back here and enjoying your life is.

What was your advice to me Banj? So get off your arse and get on a plane old mate, because money shouldn't even come into the equation unless the other end is a mystery; which is furthest from the truth with you. Bon Voyage Boss...

I've still got several weeks before the boom goes up, I may as well look around for a few days.

For you Banjo just buy a first class with Qantas without any stopovers, and the plus side for you are the stewards, just the kind you like. Mine are much better:

Banjo, Keep in mind that some over zealous check in staff like to view your return ticket before letting you on the plane. From Gold Coast using the cheapies, they always ask for the onward ticket out of Singapore if I am transiting there, but not the return out of Bangkok. Also to get an idea of specials on the bigger airlines, have a look at this site. www.bestflights.com.au/cheap-flights/phone-flights-results/Asia/Economy/11960.

Hi Banjo, Have a look at this one way fare on Thai from Perth. www.thaiair.com/AIP_SuperDeals/DisplaySpecialYou find these specials on the main Thai site, not the Australian one. Go to - http://www.thaiairways.com./ Then you see the Super Deals on the right of the page. The Perth to Bangkok at $309 = $385 with taxes. Those Super Deals only appear 3 to 5 days before flights and only for specific flights with lots of empty seats. You might be lucky to score a row if you board last and walk the length of the plane. Don't know about getting to Perth from Adelaide. I don't know why Adelaide doesn't have a lot of International connections. Maybe not many people leave. I have never been to Adelaide. Is it that good that no one wants to leave. Doesn't it have lots of cathedral's. They must be better than the temples over in Thailand. 1960

For reasons that are obvious to me anyway.... . I never put my departure dates on the forum but its still a bit away so I've got time to check it out. Adelaide/Perth is a hard one, still, the occasional bargain comes up though.
