Yes, you lose a $ for every 2 she earns over a certain amount. I'll send a link when I get back on my computer if no one beats me to it.

Terry, lots of my posts address this issue of proportionality based on 10 to 35 years of working life residency which comes into effect January next year. Ignoring the working wife reduction, on your own you will only be paid the percentage of years you were resident in Oz and of working age. For example if you lived and worked in Oz from age 16 to age 51 nonstop, or you were here always available for work, you get 100%.

so that means if you work all your life and then retire on your pension and your wife still works then you only get part of your pension,so unfair.

I know people on private super who shut their partners out of the pension system completely.

Well Terry i have been living in Philippines for 7 years and this place is awesome. But only if you live in provence not central Manila. In Manila the prices are too high, the place is not clean and the robbers roam relentlessly.

ghostbuster, what is so awesome there? maybe that u have to fear for your life almost every moment. the longer you stay in PI to more you become a coconut yourself.
good for visits but feel sorry for the people who have to live there.

Goodness me, why are we discussing geography in the OAP News?
Personally I always felt safe in the PI but then I do in most places.
