yes philly each bank has its stupid rules or simply idiots working in bank that like to have a little power trip over the foreigner, we opend a bank account for the mrs at the BPI after telling 2 other banks to mind there own fng bussiness prying into my affairs questions like where do i get the money to send to the mrs from oz ?? i told the idiot behind the desk it was none of her fng business where i get my money from, would she ask the President of usa or bloody queen of england these stupid insulting questions ? if he was to try open up a bank account with her pox ridden bank, the look on her face was worth it, we walked out of the bank to the BPI who wanted a 5,000 peso deposit to open up an account, about $130 ozz, but at BPI we could not open up an account for the daughter, a childs savings account for some bullshit reason, so off down the road we goes to another bank and easy as falling out of bed to open a childrens savings account at that bank, the banking in PR is antiquated.

No Thailand? Citibank told me that the exchange rate on their debit card is set by Visa. So I guess it will be different from their website.

No Ding, it is still used, thankfully, we still have some tradition left in the country, but it is getting less all the time.

I'm visiting in The Philippines at the moment so the local bank I chose is ChinaBank (http://www.chinabank.ph/personal.aspx).
If and when C/L International declare me a permanent overseas resident I will open a USA$ denominated account and take the exchange rate on the day of withdrawal.

The Aussie $ taken another dip this morning, am hoping the buyers step in and kick it up again. That is the problem with a floating dollar, it is a bit like winning the lottery.
