Are you trying to prove to Centrelink that you are married?

Nah, the opposite. I'm counting on single status when I arrive there next year.

Well if you're in Australia and she's not you must be single/separated.

That should be ok. I am not currently married. Yes I did hint on another thread about the possibility of getting married and processing her immigration, put that on hold for now.
No ex wife with any connection to Australia.

You would have to look this up but the whole area of overseas relationships is contradictory.
In the Guide to Social Security legislation they state that they do not recognize overseas marriages yet if you tell them you are married they will cut you back to the married rate and then in another area they talk about if you are in Australia and your overseas partner can contribute nothing material to the relationship then Sec 24 allows you to stay on the single rate.

Hi NFA. How are things in Cebu? Probably will not get down there in the near future. Still here just outside Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
Yeah, that's what I meant. I'm trying to protect my single status, but still have it in mind to allow my partner to immigrate later.

Hi NFA. How are things in Cebu? Probably will not get down there in the near future. Still here just outside Vigan, Ilocos Sur. Things are better now that the shaking has ebbed.... we are down to minor trembles now with an occasional one that makes you sit up and take notice. Amazing history for Vigan but I doubt if I will be up that way very soon either!

I've been as far north as San Fernando/La Union, quite a nice city. Stayed at one of the "beach resorts" just south a couple of times.

It gets quieter the further north you go Banjo.
Well NFA, Vigan does have that cultural aspect. I had friends from Aussie raving about the place, but it's not that exciting, pretty quiet. Ditto our little farm, it's just a basic hollow block house, but friends found it amazing. One positive is we have a decent piece of land to go with it, we have some scope for the future.
We get some really good surfing up here this time of year, like about 7 AM this morning. Up to 6ft waves and big enough to take evasive action, but a few good rides (body surfing).
