I'm always a bit dubious about this type of promo but I did a random "booking" in the time frame allowed. The return did come up as $44 so I suppose it's just a case of searching for the promo price on the outward leg. One of the best things about Asian airlines dealing with Australia is that they have to quote their price as All In Costs (excluding seating, meals etc) because of Australian competition laws. It probably pisses Cebu Pacific to tears that they cannot advertise a fair fare to Australia starting from 1peso as they do to everywhere else. Mind you I have become reasonably proficient at dragging through their websites to find the real costs. Didn't we all mate.....

It's Philippine immigration Bedwin, they don't like arrivals without an onward ticket. same if you fly in with Air Asia to KL, they made me get a return ticket, I was on my way to Bkk, so cant see the sense in that?

I've actually been looking at the Philippines as they offer a retirement visa that I just qualify for. Of course I'd check it out first before making the move. Have you spent any time there in the past? I have been there 5 times and it is different. I have Filipino gf and we will eventually retire there I would think. Have you been to Thailand? Cost of living wise, they are very similar and if you do some homework, find the right location in Phils, it would be a great place to retire to. I have flown Cebu Pacific on short flights eg. Angeles/Bangkok and not sure if I would like to spent 8 hours with them. I find Scoot pretty good so long as you are not hungry.

I always take meals with me on scoot or air asia. usually i buy a subway or something similar and have never been told i cant eat it. I usually eat when the other passengers ordered meals come and buy a drink on board. If I was queried about the meal I would just say I was hyper molandian tolerant and didnt want to risk having a seizure onboard. wellsomething like that anyway!
PAL have 1 way manila to sydney for $480 US at the moment...
