When is the legislation due to go before Parliament? Seems Tony has his hands full and cant make the budget balance. The ISUS war is likely to end up costing $1Billion and even talk of GST increases in the media "IS TONY Abbott about to raise the GST? Labor has accused the Prime Minster of using coded language to lay the groundwork for raising the goods and services tax." www.news.com.au/finance/is-tony-abbott-planning-to-raise-the-gst/story-e6frfm1i-1227103537861I suspect that he will wait until the states are broke more broke then blame them.

HI ALL !
Spoke with my GP today ( he also sits on the AMA board in Qld ) the lowdown is the medicare co payment won't pass the senate and into legislation . nor will school leavers having to wait for 6 months for newstart , also DSP portability will probably not make it through legislation this year , Hockeys budget struggling and is now deadlocked in the senate . Also our current government very concerned that projected downturns in the Chinese economy will actually slow down further their current mild easing of demands for our mineral exports , which obviously equals a fiscal fiasco , and a huge budget deficit. The IS war is his war ( he had to have and show ) to side with nato and the allies but Australia really cannot afford .No magician can refill the bucket fast enough when its drained as such . Its over for tony and his mates ! The problem is ... who can actually do the impossible , if China and India slow down we stop !

I tried searching the Parliament diary to find out when the legislative bill is supposed to go before the houses but it was all too hard to find. Here's hoping they cant get it through both houses before January 1.

However, just ços it's listed for tomorrow, doesn't necessarily mean they will get to it.
Unfortunately, I do think it is just a matter of time now. I think the amendment put forward by Labor to delete the immediate cancellation is the most opposition to the bill we can expect from them.
It is disappointing to say the least, but that amendment is better than no amendment I guess.
It would be nice if they at least delayed the implementation date a bit. No-one seems to be getting any concrete answers to the ? if I go o/s in Dec and use the existing 6 week rule, when I return in January (say for argument, Jan 15th) do those 2 weeks in Jan count towards the 28 days allowed in 2015 ?
This is not fault of Centrelink. They can't tell us how policy is to be administered until there is a policy, which obviously cannot happen until the legislation is passed.
It would however, be awfully nice of said policy makers to give some direction re a "what if" scenario.

Have we heard whether the changes were approved yet? If not is that the end of Senate sitting for the year and therefore the reduced portabliity is not going to be in effect as at 1st Jan?

No, the bill has not past yet. The sudden agreement on Direct Action ate up all the senates time. Unfortunately there is still plenty of sitting days for the senate to approve the bill, and since labor has agreed with the suspension amendment, sadly it is inevitable. I'm making sure I get my Asian Dental trip out of the way in a few weeks, as I don't think that qualifies under medical treatment in the new rules.
