Wow! Bruce, that's what I call a post.
I definitely hear what you are saying and I agree with many of your sentiments and comments 100%.
I must state however that I am certainly not afraid to throw my hat in the ring which I have done on countless occasions but by the same token I am also not prepared to waste valuable time on further appeals which I believed I could not win,(given the clear statements from sections of the relevant act and the circumstances of my case).
My point was to try and highlight the inflexibility and the general distain with which the governments(of all persuasions) in this country treat the general public. They make a general blanket rule for all, with no flexibility and then if there is any varying circumstances you are expected to fight, almost to the death in order to be bestowed with any modicum of fairness.
Just to digress for a moment, just consider this: If you are an old age pensioner and have worked in this country for 35 years then you are entitled to full portability of your pension anywhere in the world. On the other hand if you have worked, lived, and payed taxes in this country for 35 - 40 -or even 50yrs and you are on a Disability Pension then you are allowed portability for a miserly 28days. (Fair!!!--- I don't think so.)
My point is this: Similar to your GPS reading or your 5min delay in the processing queue this situation is blatantly unfair and discriminatory but unless you have a shitload of money or you could muster enough support from the general public and politicians(i.e. PEOPLE POWER)then you would be wasting your time in appealing against the unfairness of this situation.
I hark back to what I have said previously that they "Tare us all with the same brush". They Know that there is no solidarity amongst people on the DSP and they see us as a vulnerable group that can be exploited. They dare not treat old age pensioners in the same way because they are fearful of their combined power as a voting block.
We can all go onto blogs such as this and complain and highlight the unfairness of our own personal situations but unless we (disability pensioners) have a combined front and a VOICE THAT IS HEARD then we may as well just sit back and COP IT UP THE RECTUM.
