after seeing that we are one of the lowest paid pension funds in the western world after years and years of prosperity goes to show Government of the day is saying they cant afford it is a Sham argument. The y can easily afford to boost pensions to a living wage and not just below the poverty line as they are doing. Then when a pensioner of very moderate means uses his modest super to boost his pension they cut some of his pension to bring him back to poverty line again. Its cruel and against all Australian morals that my father taught me.

A while back someone asked about unlimited portability in that if you returned to Australia and stayed for more than nine months would you lose portability. I rang C'L international and the answer was not 100% clear but he said in general no. BUT, in individual cases after 6 months back you may lose it and anyone intending to return for more than six months should check with them on their own circumstances first. So that's the advice and i rang as an anonymous caller. Best not to get caught out if you want to return for 6 months or more. This was for both DSP & OAP.

To allay any panic here, I suspect that a different story would be told by most Centrelink officers contacted.
From a friend who contacted me when he saw this post.
Banjo, from my understanding with having spoken with CL International many times about this. Portability is a code issued to the recipient and it's never been described as time limited.
Portability is a rule and I think, you may better know, that is issued to someone after they fullfill the obligation of the work capacity test. Residency though is another issue and this is where it is obscure. All of us are still resident, as that would seem to be a requirement to still receive payment, although permanent exit is something which I was told one should never tell them, and by them (CL), as that alters its view of us.
In essence, we have portability of payment whilst we are still an Australian resident, with things like Medicare; Aust Bank account and utility accounts. Portability therefore is allowed for an Australian resident when they fullfill the DSP requirements.
I'll point out that there is nothing in the portability legislation that makes it time limited, we fought this for years on residency and eventually they backed off.
