Nice to see you again WB, when you inform them make sure you scan ALL paperwork involved, don't leave out a thing. I actually could not do this online, I had to download the form and post the information in. This is the thread where we discussed it here, it took a while because they stuffed it up a couple of times. dspoverseas.proboards.com/thread/2584/overseas-money-options?page=9

Hi all, does any one know how much I can withdraw from an Australian bank account before centrelink block me from updating my accounts on there web site. Example if I take out $3000 every month will they block any more changes to there web site. is there a maximum amount before they block any more changes.?

Rembering that if you withdraw 10,000 or more you are flagged, and the banks have to report it to the appropriate government agency.
Just saying.

Hi Tasjo, When you withdraw money you are supposed to update centrelink as to how much you put into your account or take out. They make you do this because of Deeming rates. In other words they cut a part of you pension if more is going into the bank. So when you take out money you get more pension. The deeming police want to make sure you dont get over paid. But if you take out say $5000 then up date the centrelink site they some times block any further updates as the amount is too much in one hit..the reason is they want you to tell them what the money is for. Just like as if your in prison.

Ok - I havent had an issue but most of my withdrawals are irregular amounts or from our home loan account which is excluded from deeming.

Is this deeming thing new because with money if centerlink already know about your assets from the beginning say then then I think your fine because we're allowed some amount I think, also if the bank knows about how you have the money say it was inheritance, lotto or sold a home for a example then there is no suspicion but if you have a lot of assets being turned in a lot of cash and your not telling centerlink about it then I think that's almost fraud and big trouble? if your depositing cold hard cash from with out any reason then it looks suspicious if your doing from 5 to 10 and 15 and 20 thousand , it gets more suspicious if being done regularly the deposits and withdrawals. The higher the money without explaining then well the banks could and may do report you to the ATO

dave3478 I have never ever been able to successfully update my bank account balances online to satisfy the requirements you have posted about. It's been a phone call to CIS or an in your face visit. cripple deeming is not new. As explained earlier in the thread it's so they can determine how much to pay you. It is a requirement to advise them when your bank balance goes up by over $2000.00 from the last amount known by them. If you advised them you had $500.00 in the bank, you don't need to tell them anything until it's over $2,500.00 on a sustainable level.

I've got a MyGov account. That's where I expect all of my correspondence to go to. Totally up to you what you tell them; as you're the only one that knows exactly what info you've given them already. I am on holiday. I move about. I don't have a fixed abode. When I called them the other week; as I was requested to do just prior to departure, they didn't even want my current address or Thai phone number. "No that's ok, we'll email you about any letters."......into my MyGov inbox I took that to mean.
