Update: Received mail from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner which reads:
"At this time it may be 4-12 weeks before an officer contacts you about your matter. We will contact you earlier if we are able to."

Is there anyone out there who is clever enough if it is actually possible to find out how much per year that the C/L appeals system costs the tax payer? With all this talk of cutting costs maybe this system is costing more than it's worth? Especially all the successful appeals as these totally equate to the incompetence of the system overall. Every time a C/L officer makes a decision and the appeal overturns it that is totally wasted money. My own appeals of which I had numerous before i won out cost somewhere between 250K and 500K. And only total incompetence or deceit by C/L was the reason. Had they had been truthful/competent i wouldn't even be on the forum today. This is the thing I want to see ended for all those on DSP. Currently we have a bigotted/incompetent organisation backed by the media that fails everyone who is entitled to it. Or else close down the entire system and watch the ensuing chaos. Send people to jail for stealing a loaf of bread. In Australia that rings a bell from some time ago. Maybe transport them to England even. That is how farcical the sysyem has become.

This isn't just Centrelink but I haven't read the whole report either. "In 2014–15, the total legal services expenditure reported by Commonwealth agencies was $728.15m. In 2013–14, the total legal services expenditure was $688.61m, which would mean an increase in 2014–15 of $39.54m." It's available here: www.ag.gov.au/Publications/Documents/Commonwealth%20Legal%20Services%20Expenditure/Legal-Services-Expenditure-Report-2014-15.pdf

No wonder it's going to take the Information Commissioner 12 weeks to get back to me. He is a busy man by the sounds of it. LOL They always try to intimidate. Obviously a very, very important person.
