Thanks for that. I’ll keep them in mind. I find great fares using Skyscanner and then I book with flight centre. They used to price match Skyscanner but don’t now but I still find them very cheap.

I was using flight center for a few years for my return flight but this year STA was cheaper. F.C. can be good but not always. They often don't give you all the options unless you ask. There are at least 8 airlines that fly between Australia and Thailand as just one example but they will push Thai only usually or maybe one other if you don't know this. Buyer beware as always. But amazing prices currently all the same. A$200.00 Bangkok to MEL one way direct is unheard of before.

I’ve also learned with FC that they will only give quotes for airlines they have contracts with. I like Royal Brunei airlines and flight centre wouldn’t give me a quote, when I insisted the counter clerk said it would cost more as they didn’t have a contract with them anymore.

Like many others, they will tell fibs to get you to go with the one they make the most from. They can book any airline, even the budget ones. They book those on the net the same as the public do and then add a bit more onto it for the service. And that's fair enough if we don't want to do it. I don't feel comfortable booking online so I always use an agent and happy to pay a bit more.

I don't feel comfortable booking online so I always use an agent and happy to pay a bit more. Travel Agents generally use a computer software technology called the Global Distribution System - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_distribution_systemNot only do they charge you a fee but they used to get a commission from the booked Airline. Idle curiosity nomadic but what is uncomfortable for you about booking online? I mean I can understand if you have concerns for online security of financial transactions and I am very rigorous on that also but I just wondered if there are other reasons that maybe I should know also. Cheers D May the TAB be with you.

I just worry about my concentration these days filling in everything correctly. Plus I have the best agent in Thailand to do all my fares. Best prices and knows her business unlike many in this part of the world. Often gets cheaper than I see on the web even and only adds on about A$20.00 or less for the service. I get a print out of all the details and feel comfortable with it. She even does the budget airlines for me even though she makes bugger all from them.

And I am realising that I miss things also whether concentration or just not keeping up with the way things change over time. There is a nice person here in Argao that can do the same but I travel as little as possible. But next time I will do what you are doing. Cheers D

Yesterday, a big ad in the Bangkok Post. Cebu Pacific. Bangkok to Manila one way. 520 baht. Only on sale until today Oct 11th though for travel periods next year. I'm tempted to take a chance I could get to Pines next year for just over A$20.00.

Get in fast. Anyone in Oz has until Oct 26th to get some amazing flight centre deals with Jetstar for flights next year. As low as ever seen. A$286.00 return to Bangkok among many others around that price. Must book in-store or by phone only for specific dates in 2020.

Flight Centre are doing it tough allegedly; because of people booking online. Wonder if they accept phone bookings from here on a reverse intinerary i.e BKK to Oz return. Probably not!
I'd say the conditions are tantamount to discrimination; because if you live in the sticks, getting to a store could be difficult and if you don't have a phone.....yeah definitely a lawsuit in the making. Cheers bear

I managed to get returns to Phuket (we will head on to Samui) for 3 weeks next July for $289 return each from Melbourne back to Thailand we come for a break from wintertime, and staying within the 30 day visa for this year... Should be back within my 28 days portability as well.

bear, Not that I have been a fan of flight center over the years with their false advertising but they do have a 1300 number in Oz and I think they may take an overseas call. The problem may be for us that possibly the flights have to start in Oz if you were thinking Bkk to OZ return like I was but the dates available don't suit me anyhow.
