Senator Siewert has told our members her stance in relation to the 90K reviews, and has questioned DHS quite vigorously in Parliamentary Committee about how DSPers may be selected for review. I've placed her details here for members who wish to contact her about finding out DHS' algorithm for selecting people for review. You can contact Rachel here; Rachel Siewert's Office 1/151 Brisbane St, Northbridge WA 6000 Ph: 08 9228 3277 | Fax: 08 9228 4055 | Freecall: 1300 881 218 Canberra Office, Senate suite SG-113, Parliament House, Canberra, ACT, 2600 Ph: 02 6277 3587 | Fax: 02 6277 5762 senator.siewert@aph.gov.au | rachelsiewert.org.au She also has a webform: rachel-siewert.greensmps.org.au/contactEdit: Banjo, I hope I'm not trampling the forum political comment rules. Siewert just seems like she will try to get answers.

No problem, lobbying sympathetic politicians is one of the primary aims of this forum.

Do you think these 90,000 reviews will almost certainly go ahead no matter the election result

No problem, lobbying sympathetic politicians is one of the primary aims of this forum. I agree Banjo, it's the suggestion that all do it now that doesn't make sense. Maybe waiting until after the election would allow the Greens to better direct their resources. Of course now would be the perfect time to bombard the coalition.

I appreciate the difference between asking for information and demanding policy changes.

I think it's an important question, just as the Senator did when she posed it in Committee a month ago and was essentially fobbed off with insufficient specifics. And, truthfully, I'd like to know what the algorithm is before 1 July when the reviews are scheduled to start....so either the Minister can answer the Senator's repeated question, or ignore it. I see it as a flicking of email. If three or four of us write, then that's some indication to the Senator that people share her view about transparency. My email was short and sweet.
But I am new to this forum. Is the provision of the Senator's email, for those who wish to ask about this damned algorithm, likely to produce a slew of correspondence?

It might be a computer program that choses the 90,000 . All 650,000 eligible DSP's details could be fed into the computer and the computer program takes into account things like work capacity hours, age , number of points in the medical tables and the computer choses the 90,000 based on stuff like that

That would make sense given the staff lay offs and cuts the government did in the budget. Given those can only happen if LNP is re-elected nevertheless it would be the method I'd say they'd use.
