Yes, WB, you need to talk to Centrelink International, it's too late to get the forms back by the 16th now anyway.
Even though you have the Unlimited Portability they may still consider you a resident if you have not informed them you intend to live overseas. More likely just a stuff up.

Hi WB, i have already posted a similar story from last year. I had been home for a month before leaving again. Six months later my adress in Australia gets a letter saying if i don't answer their questions by a certain date i may be cut off. It was already past that date before i recieved it overseas. So i eventually got onto them and the first of three dumb question was. Why didn't you inform us you were leaving the country? Because I don't have to i said. Yes that is correct, no problems, BYE. As Banjo said probably just their incompetence as usual. But as advised best to call them or else they may just cut you off and then blame computer error later on.

This topic confuses me too. im confused about residency and stuff. So WBmania has stayed overseas for 8 months now.... is he therefore not a resident because he has been overseas for more than 6 months?. I was of the opinion that to keep residency i have to stay in Australia for 6 months a year and that after that things could get dangerous. On the other hand i was of the opinion that if i tell them im living overseas, that i can have UP for as long as i want, but i might lose my passport or citizenship or something like that and that i cant really go back to live in Australia. How does the 6 months in Australia thing affect people with Unlimited portability?. Also... for the questions they asked him.... 1:return date to Australia? A: what does he say?. none of their business??. leave me alone centrestink??, im sure wbmania doesnt want to get in trouble, does he have to return by a certain time to maintain some type of residency or something?, else he will lose entitlements?? 2:intention of staying longer there?? A: i like it here??, i dont like it in Australia??. im happy here???. im not happy in Australia??. Is there some criteria they are checking off, some checklist that wbmania has to conform to, else he will risk losing his unlimited portability? . 3:purpose of travel? A: to get away from annoying centrelink staff who probably have drones hovering over his house to spy on him to check if he is really disabled??. If he answers "an extended holiday" will that get him in trouble?, does he have to say, "to be with friends and family" or "i get better care here" or something along those lines??. ive just arrived overseas to singapore for my first time on unlimited portability and these questions are very much on my mind and obviously wbmania's. Anyone have any solid answers that he should reply with to the questions above?. sorry, im probably just overly paranoid, i just like to know where i stand at all times when dealing with centrelink. i feel like they will take away this unlimited portability at any moment. even when i was leaving, i rand the dsp line accidentally, instead of centrelink international, and the lady had me on hold for half an hour checking stuff, i was so sure there was a problem and they wouldnt let me go, then finally said "you are right, you do have unlimited portbaility", then half an hour rings me up and says i have to have a private conversation with centrelink international, my heart jumped out of my chest, they are taking it away form me, ten minutes on hold, no word as to why i have to have a private conversation, then... "sorry about that, its just a coding problem, you are right you do have unlimited portability and its all sorted now", lucky i dont have a blood pressure problem!!!! PS thanks nomadic, ill try and find your similar story to get more of a grasp on the situation.

When he qualified for UP he did not tell Centrelink he wanted to move overseas permanently at this stage, having unfinished family business in Australia.
I doubt he has a problem, being a long weekend he wont be able to contact them until tomorrow so we'll hear more then.

When I qualified for UP in APRIL 2015 I informed International that I'd be away for about 1 year . Just before that time was up I was a little concerned too , so I rang International to inform them that I couldn't return as planned . The lady I spoke to said that's ok as long as your circumstances hadn't changed (money) you don't need to call us its true I got that from the horses mouth so to speak ... So does that mean I don't need to tell them we're expecting a baby in September put it on the pension also .

So it's getting sorted out WB? thats what the person on the otherside said. i am still sitting on the eggshell like most of DSP'ers because of the s.it they give us every now and then why after 7 or 8 months? they acting very unpredictable and like bunch of amateurs. look like no one is safe. regards

Glad it's fixed WB, hopefully they will keep an eye on you now and make the necessary note in your file so it does not happen again.
