I thought there was an obligation to advise a super company (not the employer) but I could well be wrong. I'm only just at the start of my TPD claim

Tasjo,
Welcome to the long road ahead of claiming a TPD payout wish you all the best. below is the explanation that I received in regards to informing a super fund of previous TPD payouts.
The primary implication of having received a TPD benefit and returning to work is that you will be unable to obtain insurance cover (income protection or total and permanent disablement cover) or will only be able to obtain limited cover (being cover that does not insure you for your pre-existing conditions) when applying for an account with your new superannuation fund.
Should you not be required to complete an application form when opening your new account it is important that you check the terms of the policy as this will set out any restrictions which may apply to people with pre-existing conditions or those that have received a previous TPD payment.
Regards,
Warren

Thanks Warren... I'm hoping my TPD wont take too long but I know I may be dreaming! I realised after I posted that I had said the wrong thing in terms of employers/super/insurers... if I was ever to return to work I am seriously considering not disclosing my disability.

Hi, I tend to agree with what you said in regards to disclosing the disability I had a friend at work a long time ago that had claimed a TPD a few years later returned to work and he said basically the only thing that can go against you is forget ever trying to claim any kind of insurance for future issues etc.

From what I could tell the insurers would probably deny any claim as soon as you disclose that its been paid before... but your super would still have death cover.
I dont have an issue with that being the case if I was to return to a different kind of work at some point after my TPD is paid.
