Hi Banjo
The AUWU are proud to join with the ACTU, ACOSS, CofFEE, FGFP and the Anti Poverty Network (SA) to fight for the rights and dignity of unemployed workers and social security recipients. Have a look at our joint press release here.
For years, both sides of politics have failed to address Australia's employment crisis or the increasingly punitive social security system. As a result, we now have three million Australians out of work and a social security system that forces millions of Australians to live in extreme poverty.
This is a national emergency, nothing less. As a country, we can no longer afford a Government that continues to ignore this crisis.
It's Time to Fight Back! Get involved with this growing coalition fighting for the rights and dignity of the unemployed and social security recipients. Your local AUWU branch can be found here.
In solidarity,
Owen Bennett President Australian Unemployed Workers' Union (03) 8394 5266

This is the thanks I get. With the country being run by rich over privellidged private school kids, it's what we can expect dave3478 They even joke about school being back in whenever Parliament resumes. Or maybe they're not joking? Cheers bear

Make sure to tune in tonight and catch comrade Melissa Fisher discuss the issues facing unemployed workers, with our voices locked out of the Jobs and Skills Summit.
#AbolishMutualObligations
📢 WE'RE GOING LIVE 📢
We know all too well that our income support system is punitive and unfair. It leaves people feeling disenfranchised and fails to dismantle barriers to employment.
Yet, Labor has left unemployed people and people on income support out of the Jobs & Skills Summit and is refusing to commit to raising the rate of income support payments.
Join Senator Barbara Pocock, Australian Greens spokesperson for employment, Melissa Fisher, an income support recipient and social justice advocate, and myself, Australian Greens spokesperson for social services for a discussion on why the income support system must be included in the Jobs & Skills Summit.
Our government must listen to unemployed people and understand why our social safety net is failing.
