5 April 2017 Increase to Age Pension eligibility age from 1 July 2017 From 1 July 2017, the age you need to be eligible for the Age Pension is changing. If you were born on or after 1 July 1952, you will need to be aged 65 years and 6 months.
The age pension age will then go up by 6 months every 2 years until 1 July 2023, when the Age Pension eligibility age will be 67. If you are currently getting an income support payment you will get a letter from us 9 weeks before you reach eligibility age, inviting you to transfer to the Age Pension. If you are not getting a payment from us, you can submit your claim up to 13 weeks before reaching age pension age. www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/news/increase-age-pension-eligibility-age-1-july-2017
