Good stuff spacey, this would make a useful file if there's ever a serious federal inquiry into these people..... like a Royal Commission.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I just quit my job it was getting too hard for me. The hours for a chef is really bad. You have to work from 10 till 2 o'çlock and then go home and then come back to work from 5 till 9. I got sick of the hours. I just want to work something straight. Sorry I haven;t wrote anything in ages the work was taking a heap of my time. I was too exhausted. I need help finding a new job. I want to be a barman or a gaming attendant. I want to go to a job agency but am little bit scared that they will not help me.

Quantumranger, I'm trying to get back into the workforce. I joined a Disability Employment Agency and had a good outcome. I went to see a few before I settled on them though. I needed one that had plenty of funding for training and initial stuff but I did not need follow-up help. The first couple I saw had mostly funding for follow-up support. Then I found one which suited and have done work experience with a Bunnings for 2 days a week for the last month.....I work for free. However they have said my customer service skills are exemplary and are going to invite me to the next round of interviews in September, for the October intake of new workers. I'd recommend Bunnings...it's fairly easy work, and time goes fast. Mostly I fill shelves, but I deal with customers who need stuff so it's not boring. And the pay is supposed to be good.

Latindancer, thats an awesome job. I wish I had that job. I want to do something like that. As I wrote before I used to be with Nova and they put in a job where the owner could barely speak english she kept talking to me in chinese. Man I though it was a joke. Anyways I got my RSA and RCG and I want to try to find work by myself first but if I am having trouble I will try a new employment agency. I think it would be better if I find work after July 30 because then people who are on DSP can work up to 30 hours and there DSP payments won't get cut. I might just wait for that time.

That's great Latin. Hope you do get the job they seem to be offering.
Bunnings has a policy of hiring older people, maybe they are expanding that to include the disabled.
I have also heard they are good to work for. Give you a gift card on your birthday, etc.

Quantumranger, I don't know what RSA and RCG are, but if you want to get a job at Bunnings, it will help to join a Disability Employment agency. They set up the work experience position for me, and paid for work boots, pants, and gave me two $20 petrol vouchers. Bunnings have employee intakes in October and January, and the interview process starts in September for the October intake. So go and get a month's work experience (2 days a week) through an agency, be really friendly and helpful with people whilst there, and you'll be fast-tracked for an interview.

I wonder if that works for other retail outlets like Coles? I know they're not great jobs but it pays better than the dole and it builds a resume for something better.

For that to work for people like myself (knee related issues etc) I would have to do shelf packing, but I hear Coles and so on are not really hiring people anymore.
(I have a few friends working for Coles/Woolworths).

I want to go travel in Vietnam and Thailand for three weeks. Do you think my employment agency will be upset or angry.

That's a very good question Quantum.
If a person was on Newstart, or a payment which required them to be looking for work, then no, you would not be allowed to go on a holiday.
Since your DSP is paid regardless of whether or not you look for work each week, then you should not have any problems.
Once we are all bound by the same rules as Newstart, the first answer will again apply.

Thanks mate for the answer. BUt I think I actually might stay for a while before going on a holiday. I am nearly with direct employment. Direct employment has already got job interviews lined up for me but they are still waiting for Nova employment to sign the transfer forms. They won't sign it. I asked them too and they said I want to be given another opportunity to help find you a job. And I said I have been with you for a year and you only found me one job which the owner could not even understand english. I also said to Nova if you went to a restaurant and you had bad food and bad service would you come back and the boss said yes. My reply was are you mad. I have had 5 different employment consultants at Nova and I only got one crappy job. They were also rude so I would never come back. Direct employment are now trying to deal with the stupidity of Nova.

They didn't want to do anything for you while getting paid to, but they don't want to let go of the payments you generated for them. Tell them where to go.
