Here is my advice. Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with his experience. I cannot understand why people keep using the phone to get their infomation from c/link. After the phone is hung up, it is , they said ,he said. who said. Go back to basics, write a letter or atleast a e/mail so you have written proof. Ask for what they are saying in writing, the goverment acts, c/lik rules and regs and keep copies When I have dealt with c/link I have told them I dont have a phone, I dont have a computer or know how to use one, and because I have a hearing deficiency I need every thing, Questions, answers and info in writing. It took me many e/mail to fianally get a answer to my question ''Am I classed as a permanant resident in Australia''. I now have it. '' Yes you are, as you were in Australia on the &&/**/#@^& you are classed as a permanant resident for c/link purposes.'' Eight is spot on, and I agree 100%. For what it is worth I think Centrelink is bluffing with Anotherdsp. You are either a resident or not a resident, it is not a grey area. For this idiot to say if you go overseas again then you are not a resident is rubbish. Also, how can an ARO been done on a future decision. Would love to see that one explained in the SSAT.

He has said you are a resident for Centrelink purposes, but if you going o/s you wont be. ASK FOR THAT IN WRITING. What decision is the ARO going to review, and do you think he/she would get that "in writing" - of course they would. People we need to start demanding anything Centrelink tells us that potentially effects us MUST be in writing. It would appear that Centrelink are running their own race and making things up as they go along. Anotherdsp my strongest advice is insist on this goons decision (whatever it may be) in writing. That is the decision (if any) that the ARO will be reviewing.

Be still my heart, with friends like banker and rowdy who needs enemies.... For the boards information I have been told how "hansum" I am by many many good judges of physical beauty when travelling overseas.
Seriously we need to be very careful of this guy (the one who interviewed anotherdsp) on the phone, I've spoken to him twice myself, he's the old school "It's my word against theirs" type and will cut any of us off the pension and take his chances in the SSAT later. There seems to be no repercussions on Centrelink officers who's decisions are constantly overturned on appeal, they seem to be able to thumb their noses at the ombudsman's report last year criticising their record in the appeals system.
It's like... "I'll cause these people the maximum inconvenience and not give a shit about what it costs the taxpayer".

ok rowdy an banjo, well he said he is sending out a letter to explain all of this and his decision.i suppose what i will be appealing is the fact he deemed me a non resident as my intention to travel o/s again which i rang him to tell him, from that he decided that my wanting to travel again gives him the ammo to decide about residency? so then it lets me appeal his decision(which is put on hold until the appeals process has run its course) an so then whilst this is going on i am free to leave??so i assume that an ARO is 1st then if i lose that onto the SSAT(i suppose i will have to comeback to do that, organize my case?) he told no problem go ahead an book my flight as my residency cannot be questioned because of the appeal in process?you know even my little knowledge of all this is that he sez that if cut off it is reapply not reinstatement, reinstatement is the right answer! not much sleep last night,i just realized that i received two letters 2 days apart about how he is satisfied that i am a resident(i had a couple of bad days an took some painkillers,i have an allergy to painkiller,so i dont use them often my vision goes all orange ect.)well has anyone been put in this situation about appealing an leaving?? rowdy he is posting me his decision an ect so i can lodge my 1st appeal,as he has said he will deem me a non resident. is it right what he is saying about appealing and leaving?? also still have not been able to contact the indigenous couple who were ordered back to aust!! as soon as i find out it will be posted! thanx again one and all for your time.

A quick question guys. If your address is in one state and you return to another state before flying out overseas again, is this monitored? Or is it just accepted that you call international services and tell them your back in the country.

AnotherDSP and all the other members having problems with Centrelink.
If your interview or other contact with a C/L officer puts you through any stress, loss of sleep etc, write it down with time & date in other words keep a diary of all encounters with C/L and write it down while its still fresh in your memory.
Ask for any decision by a C/L officer in writing straight away.
If you lodge any papers with C/L make sure you keep a copy and time, date them, try & get C/L to stamp the copy for you.
DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING THEY SAY ON THE PHONE.....It has now been proven that we can not trust them.

This guy and any others like him must be stopped, the people that are on DSP are sick in many different ways and some can not handle this kind of treatment. May I suggest that we all start writing letters to the minister about this guy and try to get him stopped, he is playing around with peoples lives.

If DEEWR won't weed out the corrupt ones, then we must do it for them. The officer I accused of corruption at my local branch last month, admitted that their old manager had been 'moved sideways, because of problems with her'. I suggested that is the reason I am always given a hard time there, since it was my complaints which bought about her sideways movement. Which is another matter which needs to be addressed. These people should be fired, not moved on to corrupt other people's cases.
