Centrelink incompetence continues unabated like all here already know. back in Oz 2 weeks with health care card valid until mid 2019. Today new card turns up valid until mid 2020. What a waste of money as i say thanks to these imbeciles for the free transport voucher also. Every year the same thing.

I often wonder why those who can not use PT are not given a different type of voucher.
Those travel vouchers never used to be easy to use and were quite a head ache to redeem. Does anyone even bother to use them? If so, has the process gotten any easier?

What free transport voucher is this ? I have heard of free train trips, within one's own state. Them ?

I think so, I used it a couple of times, Adelaide to Mount Gambier, not even sure how much of that line is still there.

Yes it is one off free train trip in Victoria for me. I have had many times over the years. i usually only use it for a one way trip but most use it for a return trip. BUT should be only available when card is renewed. So there incompetence gives me one i should not get.

I thought they sent them out yearly nomadic? I know they always have one attached to the paperwork that all new pension cards are sent out on, but for some reason I was under the impression that it is a once a year thing that is available. I don't even know why I think this but I do. I personally would prefer the $25.00 fee four times a year like bear said they get in QLD as I do not use the vouchers, never have and most likely never will....the $100.00 would be a much better option for me to put towards fuel. mspurple

Limited, subsidized, train travel isn't anything I'm excited about. But for those who enjoy that sort of thing it's pretty good! You have three months to complete a one way journey. You can disembark, visit friends for a week or so, rejoin the train and do it again further up or down the track. So if you live in Brissy, have friends up and down the coast, you can fill in six months of the year; Brissy--Cairns return for $50.00. Cheers bear P.S. I also think there's limited interstate connections as well, but I've never looked into it.

They use to send out new health care cards every year with a TAC voucher and one free transport voucher attached. Then a few years ago they went to every two years which was much better overall except you only got one voucher every two years instead of one. But for me i get one every year simply because they are idiots. I only save $15.00 on the train trip so no big deal but their incompetence shows out once again.

I still thought they were given yearly (I do not know why I thought this).
I also thought.... the voucher was valid for one year, you must book in advance, you can travel from anywhere in the state you live in to anywhere else in the same state (then return)?
Maybe I should hunt out the actual paper my last card came with, it was only a few months ago I received it, sometime today I will see if I still have the travel voucher part somewhere here.

the card i just got starts the day i arrived back three weeks ago and expires feb 2020. that last date was the usual yearly one for many years but now i get a new one when ever i return. would be interesting to leave next week and then return after a week or so to see if i got another one.

Seven weeks would be better nomadic as then you'd go back onto full pay for another six weeks!
