Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm trying to find places to go that's not overseas so I don't get my DSP cut as I already done my 28 days for this year.
Is going to New Zealand excluded?
Also what are some cheap places to go within Australia.
I liked Bali because of the cheap hotels and flights.
I'm wanting to go on a cruise. I might just go to Tasmania, Perth, Melbourne on a cruise. If I go to Fiji then I'll get my pension cut.

Not really, your options are pretty limited.
Why not do a "backpacker" trip in Australia, the north coast of Queensland is nice this time of the year, if you feel like you're up to some casual work there may be some available in the agricultural industries.

I'm told Victor Harbour and other places in that region in S.A. are cheap. Have you thought about applying for U.P.? That's what you need for sure for freedom to travel. Yes, back packer hostels are the only hope in Oz on DSP. Even a dorm bed costs about $40.00 a night these days although there are some a bit cheaper but usually lower in quality also or up to 30 beds in some places. The latter can get down to A$20.00 a night if you can cope with the size. Take extra care of your belongings in all these places is the rule also.

Should have added that some hostels offer free beds for work. A place in Albany W.A. offered a bed for a few hours of cleaning per day. Alas, lots of travellers looking to do it so hard to get.

If you don't like Winter, then head to North Queensland. It is heavenly there at this time of year.

U.P.=Unlimited Portability To obtain it you have to be reassessed, get 20 points on one table, expect your disability to not change for five years and have virtually no work capacity. 0-2hrs week! But to try for it you risk losing your DSP, which makes it little more than lip service; something it was not meant to degenerate into! Cheers bear

As for flying holidays if you are that way inclined, make some accounts with the Airlines. Virgin for example have a happy hour sale every Thursday night for members and sometimes there are reasonable packages on there.
Jetstar and Qantas most likely have something similar. Cheers bear.

Why not Quantum? You can check out your status first to see if you have enough points without their knowledge If you have no work capacity also you may get it. Do your research first. Welfare rights could possibly help you decide. Nothing to lose by just checking and everything to win if you get it.

Oh I won't apply for Unlimited Portability sounds like a trap You can find the stories of a large number of successful applications here. As nomadic says, check with your doctor first.

Apply for your file under FOI quantumranger if you're up to it. If i'd have not been paranoid of applying for my file, I would have been OS at least four years earlier. Because I would have known I had the points, didn't have the work capacity and the AAT wouldn't have seemed so overwhelming, if it had come to that. Cheers bear

You can also get to somewhere like Batemans Bay and go on fishing cruises. I'm sure they have that sort of thing in every State in Australia. Far North Qld you can go out to the Barrier Reef islands and areas. Bus trips can be good but they may be expensive these days but you see a lot of different things. All the best.

bus trips can be terribly expensive. A few years ago I wanted to go from Perth to Exmouth and it was $700.00 so i didn't go. Flights were almost the same. Although in N.S.W. i think those on health care cards can get train and bus trips for $5.00. I got from Albury to Canberra for $5.00 a few years ago.

I had a day to kill in Sydney airport once before my international flight and got a $12 daytrip ticket for the train, this also covered ferry travel so I went across the harbour to Manly and spent a couple of hours at the beach.
