Is it possible to update your assets toncentrelink as your savings dwindle?

Yes it is onemore . I did mine through MyGov ten months ago, then I did another one in the office eight months ago. The office was happy to view a very recent ATM receipt! The online experience was somewhat arduous, but I got there in the end. It's actually one of our obligations. If our balance falls or rises $2000.00 we should let them know. I think it one of those many obligations they include with letters. Cheers bear

Bear, yes just did it, wasn't so hard as you mentioned. Funny thing is that the site didn't ask me to upload any proof of the change.

I was contacted by Centrelink today who informed me the reason for the delay was that my reporting of my decrease in savings was too big (9k) and so was rejected by the computer, and that in future if I report decrease of 2K there will not be any problems, I received some back pay out sequence today as well. I actually thought that the bloke who I was talking to was very helpful, and when I explained to him that I was new to this, he just said “no problems, if you didn’t know”.
