All Centrelink offices now offer free wi-fi to help ease the wait time for those visiting the welfare provider. But rather than making it easier for people to scroll through their social media feeds while waiting for help, the government expects them to use the network to download government apps and look for jobs. The service will be available at more than 900 locations across the nation and will help welfare recipients fill out government forms online, Human Services Minister Michael Keenan said on Thursday. "The free wi-fi network allows customers to download and use government apps and provides access to a range of other approved online services including banking, job searches, community support, education and training," he said. "Additionally, all of our service centres and agents have experienced staff on hand to walk people through how to use the department's digital services." The rollout is part of a plan to ensure all government services are digitally available by 2025. www.sbs.com.au/news/free-wi-fi-available-at-centrelink-offices
