Good work pinning the thread bear. Click the link below if you are located in Melbourne and at risk of homelessness en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacred_Heart_MissionEven if you haven't reached the point of sleeping rough yet the scared heart kitchen on Grey Street is a great place to visit for a daytime meal and a friendly chat with one of the community workers if you're broke and stuck without any food in your kitchen cupboards a few days before your next Centrelink payday. The best aspect of regilious Catholic church based charities like Vinnie's and scared heart is the services are provided to the disadvantaged in a secular manner none of the staff or volunteers force the religious beliefs of the Vatican on those in need and never have a expectation of attending church services in exchange for a free meal or assistance occurred. Let alone priests trying to act all high and mighty and attempting to make the needy pause for a bullshit prayer of thanks in honour of our lord Jesus Christ the same way Evergenecial Christian charity leaders insist on saying grace and reading a passage from the new testament just prior to the free meal being served. As if a down and out aboriginal or Atheist dirt poor Aussie is going to change from nonbelievers to practicing Christian all because of a once weekly free dinner and some raggedy op shop clothes supplied by the salvos, UnitingCare etc

No worries boku It's important information. I was reading your post and wondering about Evangelicals, do they have similar operations etc.; but there it was. I'm staggered they actually give lip service to the Good Samaritan. After all; in the parable nothing is required of the receiver. The innkeeper was told; "Put it all on my account; and I will pay you when I return". Another good post BTW; cheers bear

Never let it be said that we as a community favour any one organisation that gives succour to those in need over another. You will however have to wade through a whole lot of BS with this link; make your own decisions, take chances and hope for the best. It'll be way easier to find a Vinnies, Lifeline or Salvos imho. Cheers bear charityguide.com.au/category/pentecostal

For those of us in Australia you can Ask Izzy. Just put in your postcode or area you are needing assistance from and the type of assistance, eg housing, food, vouchers etc, and it lists the organisations that may be able to assist. It appears that quite a few Neighbourhood houses are now providing food parcels. I have put up the link below. askizzy.org.au/
