MANILA (UPDATE) - The Philippines will suspend the issuance of visas, a move that will prohibit the entry of foreigners to the country to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), its top diplomat said Thursday. "Starting today, all our embassies and consulates will temporarily suspend visa issuance to all foreign nationals, as well as visa-free entry privileges to all foreign nationals," Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. posted on his official Twitter account. All previously issued Philippines visas to foreign nationals are deemed canceled while visas issued to foreign spouses and children of Filipino nationals remain valid, he said. I come under the second category TG what this means for others I'm not so sure. Take care and be safe. Itsa

And what of spouses that have a renewal coming up? Of retirees if ALL visas have in fact been cancelled. Thanks Itsa, please keep us as updated as possible. Cheers bear

I have many questions, firstly does that mean those on visa extensions have to leave, and if so how will you leave becuase I heard flights leaving cebu are going for very very high prices. And if you cant leave does fhis mean detention? BI must have something more to say as this gets processed...

Yes, bear being married to a Filipino citizen and having a daughter here I would imagine that I will be ok, I was due to renew my visa next week but I was unsure if the B.O.I would be open. My wife tried to phone them but couldn't get through no answer. So I just did a word search Visa issuance to foreigners of Filipino spouses/covid 19. I can't answer any of the questions, because I don't know myself. The purpose of the post was to give forum members a heads up and be aware of their status avoiding any unforeseen pitfalls as a result. The only advice I would give is, do not leave home without your ACR card in the event of being stopped by the PNP it has all your details on it. Stay safe Itsa

Philippines Visas that were issued by embassies abroad are cancelled. No foreigners can now enter the Philippines. Foreigners that are already in the Philippines can stay without a Visa until the quarantine is lifted.

Cheers bear Number 2 means that any visa issued to a foreign national that has not already travelled to the Philippines. Then their visa is cancelled. Immigration announced that anyone on Luzon can renew their visa within 30 days of the lockdown being ended. All other immigration offices are still open. But I think they will all close and we will have the same option as the people on Luzon.

i called immigration here in Bacolod yesterday. i tell them i am due for a visa extension , this week . he told me that there will be no penalty while quarantine measures are in place. when restrictions are lifted , go to immigration, & visa will be updated, probably with backpayment if needed. but no fine for being late to extend visa.
