Good to hear from all of you and glad you are managing ok within the restrictions Denis - I assume your Aus passport can be renewed from the Philippines? If you ever needed forms sent please let me know. thanks tasjo but all good and can access forms here and i know the drill. what concerns me is that the Philippines have stated that restrictions at whatever level will not actually lift until they have a vaccine and in a plenty of concern for their elderly over 60 I potentially could be locked down for some time beyond the rest of the population. i figure i, and other ex-pats, will square it with the Philippine gov without a problem. its the australians in the embassy in manilla where i have to front up to that worry me now. if it goes too long and no doubt i'm getting ahead of myself but lordy lordy. they always worry me. lol sorry

Tasso, hope you are doing well also, I am in Shitney at the moment helping my daughter move house, as she is by herself so needs a helping hand. And of course cooking her favourite meals while growing up “ Dad can you cook those omelettes you used to make when we were growing up”. Funny thing about Dads and their daughters.

I aint holding my breath any more on the vaccine. Just read that Sth Korea are starting the first human trials on one. If all goes well it may be ready by late 2021. Yes, still another 18 months away at best. GROWL.

The news is not good, all the best to our PI expat members. Philippine Doctors, Nurses Saying Their Losing Battle Against Covid-19Philippine doctors and nurses have said they are losing the battle against Covid-19 and are pleading for new lockdowns as infections surge. In the largest call yet from medical experts to contain the virus, 80 groups representing 80,000 doctors and a million nurses, said the Philippines was losing the fight against COVID-19. They also warned President Rodrigo Duterte of a collapse of the healthcare system from soaring infections. “Our health workers are burnt out with seemingly endless number of patients trooping to our hospitals for emergency care and admission,” the group, led by the Philippine College of Physicians, said in a letter to the president, as the Southeast Asian nation recorded 4,963 infections of the coronavirus. “We are waging a losing battle against COVID-19,” it said. Healthcare workers, including microbiologists; infectious disease and public health experts; pediatricians and nurses; called for a two-week lockdown in Manila. The also asked for lockdowns in provinces south Manila until mid-August. www.chiangraitimes.com/thailand-national-news/philippine-doctors-nurses-saying-their-losing-battle-against-covid-19/

Banjoin argao we are not too bad off covid wise. still locked down for over 60 and under 21. And as I said I drop by to check names online and good to see you feature lots. I will shortly be 12 months behind on my long term visa bizo with phils immigration but should be ok. I was recently pleased to check the Australian Embassy Philippines site re passport renewal and something I had missed before and from some of this sites old hands is that I have up to 3 years to renew my passport after expiry. Big relief. Take care

I've kept my visa up to date in Thailand, there is the option to not do it but the local office is still open, they see most people in an open marquee outside. I've gone in when required, I think I sleep better at night.

Lucky you as I am a tad worried when the amnesty ends on Sept 26th if borders are still closed. I spoke to immigration when I got back and they offered to give me a new one like yours where no need to leave every 3 months. The only problem is that as a first-time applicant I need either 800K in Thai bank or 65,000 baht pension a month going into it. Obviously I have neither. But the boss wasn't there so will try and see him and get a clearer picture. Can't leave and not enough money. First timer after 21 years? Will be interesting, to say the least.
