"Infosys completes proof of design, picks up $143m contract." Link: www.itnews.com.au/news/centrelinks-new-payments-engine-enters-build-phase-551423
Services Australia formerly Dept. Human Services is preparing to rip out and replace the government owned and run entitlements calculator engine and replace it with a wholly privatised engine supplied by an Indian based corporate sourced by limited tender.
"In the process, Infosys has also scored its first major contract with Services Australia under its deed of standing order worth $142.6 million. The new three-and-a-half year contract, which was published last week, complements Infosys’ $18.4 million contract for the proof of design work over the past seven months."
Issues of data protection, privacy and privatisations aside, it should concern everyone that over three hundred million in public spending is yet again going to one foreign corporate - a tidy package given the cost of revamping and keeping contracts at home and the system in government hands was never even investigated much less mitigated.
The entire Australian public - as this will impact everyone who has a medicare card not just those receive centrelink payments - is just left to hope that in their rush to 'simplify' aka privatise yet another arm of once accountable government systems, that peoples lives wont end up in the toilet as they have their other algorithm based brain farts. We are *sure* ( sigh) that the LNP have done their due diligence and checked this company out and have a plan in place for if it goes belly up or fails.....right? Right?
A reminder that it is LAW, that corporations place their shareholders first.
A reminder neither Indue or INfosys is required to appear before senate estimates.
A reminder the LNP are in the process of attacking and attempting to legislate away whistleblower protections right now. ( see links below as to why that matters more than you might think)

📌Some insight into InfoSys:Accusation of visa fraud in the USAIn 2011, Infosys was accused of committing visa fraud by using B-1 (visitor) visas for work requiring H-1B (work) visas. The allegations were initially made by an American employee of Infosys in an internal complaint. He subsequently sued the company, claiming that he was harassed and sidelined after speaking out. Although that case was dismissed,[77] it along with another similar case,[78][79][80] brought the allegations to the notice of the US authorities – and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and a federal grand jury started investigating.[81]
In October 2013, Infosys agreed to settle the civil suit with US authorities by paying US$34 million.[82] Infosys refused to admit guilt and stressed that it only agreed to pay the fine to avoid the nuisance of 'prolonged litigation'.[83] In its statement the company said "As reflected in the settlement, Infosys denies and disputes any claims of systemic visa fraud, misuse of visas for competitive advantage, or immigration abuse. Those claims are assertions that remain unproven".[84]

And, the Rosen Law Firm is not alone. Faruqi and Faruqi LLP, another US based law firm, is also investigating potential claims against Infosys. It has invited investors who suffered a loss greater than $150,000 to come forward and discuss their legal rights at no cost.
