I heard it mentioned as a possibility about a month back, cannot recall where. Like ghostbuster my personal expectations are so low that I took little interest.

Update; backdated to: August 20, 2020 11.07am AEST
If the government wished, they could consider a one-off increase in pensions, as used to be the case before the Howard government legislated for benchmarking to wages in 1997.
Alternatively, as the Council on the Ageing suggested on Wednesday, they could provide another stimulus payment of $750 timed to go out before Christmas. As Morrison noted, there have already been two $750 payments, in April and July, as part of the pandemic response. A further payment could support consumer spending at what see ms likely to be a very difficult time for the economy. A payment of $750 over a six-month period is a little under $60 per fortnight, which would be much higher than any normal indexation increase. But it would not be built into the rates for the long-term, which the government does not seem to want to do.

l read in the paper today age pesnioners will get either a pay rise or another $750, will that also include DSP's or not www.news.com.au/finance/money/budgeting/pensioners-will-get-payment-boost-but-no-decision-likely-on-jobseeker-until-christmas/news-story/7aabbb1d479d51e96f21937db29c0b09"Older Australians on the age pension will reportedly get a payment boost within weeks but those relying on unemployed benefits won’t learn if they will get a permanent increase to their payments for months.More than 1.6 million people on JobSeeker payments will likely have to wait until closer to Christmas to find out if the Morrison Government will extend the coronavirus supplement into next year. To deal with the pandemic, Morrison Government boosted the base fortnightly unemployment benefit of about $560 with a $550 fortnightly supplement this year but this is due to end on September 24. After this time a reduced supplement of $250 a fortnight will be paid until December. Many were hoping the government would reveal in the October Budget whether it would increase the rate of the unemployment benefit permanently, providing certainty about payments next year, however, this now seems unlikely. While Social Services Minister Anne Ruston told the Sydney Morning Herald that it was “highly likely” the coronavirus supplement will be extended, the government is expected to hold off making a decision until closer to Christmas. Senator Rushton did reveal the October Budget would include a boost to the age pension. This could be in the form of a one-off payment or ongoing increase, although this has not been confirmed. Council on the Ageing (COTA) Australia has urged the Morrison Government to provide an extra $750 stimulus payment to pensioners after it was revealed that lower costs of living meant pension payments would not rise in September because the indexation rate was falling.

Whenever Pensions have been mentioned or were raised in the past it was always in relation to the two payments; OAP & DSP. I can't imagine the status quo won't remain. Though through the minister's shifty nature of leaking budget matters three weeks out from the actual budget Joshie will have little option but to produce one or the other now........her elderly constituents have been in her ear the way it reads. Ann & Stuart are way to mean spirited to give one of the permanent suggestions doing the rounds of between $50-75 per week imo. Does anyone have any ideas why they always talk about rises to fortnightly payments in weekly rises? Quite bizarre. So; $750 bonus for Xmas is my pick. It said pensions so it doesn't just mean aged pensioners, it would include DSP.

Please don't forget that this is only to cover their arses after the backlash of no regular indexation rise in September for the first time in decades. Will probably be only equivalent to that normal extra cup of coffee twice a year. So don't get too excited. This mob hates welfare like no other. Everything is 100% about getting votes. And only uninformed cretins would vote for them. But it seems about 50% of the population comes into that category.

The media says its an increase for age pensions but do they really mean all pensions? l think if they increase the age pension they also have to increase DSP is that correct. l hope its another $750 payout and not a lousy few dollar increase

I heard it mentioned as a possibility about a month back, cannot recall where. Like ghostbuster my personal expectations are so low that I took little interest. One benefit of getting pension paid into an OZ account it seems to be. But unfair beyond belief in reality. What the F does it matter which account it goes in to? I would be livid if it was me. But then again, politicians have never been known for fairness. If I was you guys I'd be asking why you didn't get it. Maybe just a mistake as they are known for that. By giving it to me even? Doesn't make any other sense.

There are some pensioners that are fairly well off and others that are struggling to surive , l think the one off payments amount should be based on individual savings and assetts, for example those who have very little savings and assetts should get say $2,000 while those who are better off get $500
