www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-22/afp-arrests-sydney-syndicate-over-ndis-fraud/13313592Australian Federal Police: Six people allegedly involved in a Western Sydney crime syndicate have been arrested by the Australian Federal Police over a multi-million dollar fraud against the NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme. It will be alleged the syndicate has claimed more than $10 million since 2017 in NDIS funding. The value of the fraudulent claims are alleged to be in the millions. Investigations continue into the scale and total value involved. On Tuesday, more than 100 AFP investigators, forensic specialists and more than 50 partner agency members conducted operational activity across Sydney. During 11 search warrants, police seized flashy cars, cash, jewellery, cryptocurrency and 8kgs of gold bullion worth approximately $600,000. AFP investigators and forensic specialists are continuing to examine the evidence and work closely with the NDIA to identify any further alleged offending. Anyone with information about suspected fraud involving the NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme should contact the Fraud Reporting Hotline on 1800 650 717.

So dodgy providers coached participant's families and support persons to show them as more disabled than they actually were, in order to get more funding. I'd be willing to bet London to a Brick the extra that the participants and families received wouldn't amount to much if any, considering support people were in on it as well but; the head honcho of the AFP seems to be suggesting the disabled could be going down for it as well if he has anything to do with it. I think the vast majority of participants and families would be going along with their support staff, the so called experts in what their needs are. Another big question I have; is where are their doctors and medical reports situated in this whole scam. I just hope the coppers don't throw the baby out with the bath water.
Yes great result; great distraction too considering everything else going on with the scheme and the fact they want to cut costs. Now they have the perfect excuse. Cheers bear

Cheers bear Yeah I hope the disabled involved are not the victims AGAIN Sir Bear, 1. victim of disability 2. victim of having NDIS funds stolen and 3. victim of getting lured in by a syndicate Cheers JJJ88
