We’re messaging people about their employment income and earnings
If you get an SMS, email or letter from us about checking your income, here’s what you need to do.
Why you’ll get a message
You’ll get a message to call us if you get an income support payment and at least one of the following apply:
you only report your income to us when it changes
you only report your partner’s income to us when it changes.
We need to check your income details to see if anything has changed. For example, you or your partner might not be working anymore, have a different employer, or earn a different amount.
Checking and updating your details helps you get the right payment.
Why you need to call us if you get a message
You need to call us by the due date in the message so we don’t stop your payment.
When you confirm your employment income, we’ll also ask you to start reporting your income every 2 weeks. The person you speak to when you call will tell you what date you must start doing this.
Why you need to report your income every 2 weeks
Reporting your income to us more often helps us pay you the right amount the first time.
Reporting your income every two weeks means we have accurate information about you so we:
can adjust your payment if needed
don’t give you money that you’d have to pay back.
Even if you or your partner usually earn the same amount each pay, you still need to report small changes to us. This includes leave without pay, overtime and allowances.
You can report your income through your Centrelink online account or the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app. You can also report by calling us on your regular payment line.
