Labour hire in disability agency probed
A union says the disability insurance scheme has been "plagued by the scourge of labour hire'.
Labour hire in the agency behind the National Disability Insurance Scheme will come under scrutiny at a parliamentary inquiry into the public service.
Disability organisations, the public sector union and National Disability Insurance Agency are set to front the Senate committee on Wednesday looking at the state of the civil service. The Community and Public Sector Union says the NDIA, which runs the national insurance scheme, has been "plagued by the scourge of labour hire" since its inception. A reliance on insecure labour hire led to a high turnover, dysfunction and poor decisions, the union said in its submission to the inquiry. This meant people with disabilities ended up with "deficient" funding plans and faced significant delays when requesting reviews. The union also flagged issues around pay parity and additional stressors faced by workers with disabilities. Officials from the NDIA are also set to speak at the inquiry. thewest.com.au/news/health/labour-hire-in-disability-agency-probed-c-3461187
