There's a lot of confusing info going around, Thailand is no exception.
I'm getting Moderna through family connections, I hear some non-residents are having a few issues getting the jabs in the public system which appear to be offering Sinovax and AZ. If we all put our experiences here in one place it may help someone.
No discussions on whether people want it or not or the effectiveness of what's available please.

For what it's worth : I'm 65 and I had my first jab of AZ here in Australia. Twelve hours later I had the shudders for 30 minutes, then developed a slight temperature, and felt rather rough. Plus a sore arm, of course. But 24 hours after the jab I felt OK. I would have preferred Pfizer, but whatever. Some time in the future after my second AZ jab, I will get Pfizer as a booster....probably just before going O/S again....whenever that eventuates. Apparently AZ, and then later Pfizer is a good combo.
A 73 year old friend had AZ and didn't experience anything....not even a sore arm. A sister of another friend had AZ and felt pretty bloody rough for an entire week.
My advice is : if you can't get anything else readily, have the AZ....the risk of complications is incredibly low, and if you are in an area with COVID circulating, you REALLY don't want to get it. The risk of death or long-term effects from COVID is very high in comparison to a reaction to AZ.

Cheers Itsa That's the first I have heard of having to pay for vaccination in the Philippines. I am in Davao and I got my first shot of AZ on the 19th of May and I am currently sitting in the queue for my 2nd free shot. I know of about 20 foreigner here that have had the free vaccination..

I'm surprised by what you say aussiebernie, because that's the narrative I'm being given here in Cebu, maybe it varies from City to City and Barangay, nonetheless thanks for the heads up I'll certainly check it out Cheers Itsa

Currently sitting in observation at Nakornping hospital Mae Rim after 1st shot of Sinovac, 2nd shot in three weeks; Astrazenica. Due to changes in personal family circumstances it was imperative I be vaccinated, so to anyone I've spoken to via PM re my reluctance; life moves on and we do what we must. If you're in Chiang Mai registered with Wall of Chiang Mai, with a 13 digit ID number, still waiting on that email or SMS; if you have access to a fluent Thai speaker, want a shot without being fussy, have them give this number a call, using your ID & Passport numbers. Location is totally dependent on your facilitator. Happy friendly organised staff, like a well oiled machine..... After a knock back Saturday at a walk-in centre, a call got me the appointment for today. Yes it's free..... Cheers bear Vaccination Centre C-M (Thai speaker only):- 0981028632

For what it's worth I've taken on board what some posters have said and decided to register for a vaccine at the local city outlet/centre wherever that may be. I guess I'm having 50c each way here but at my age 65, I do recognize the fact the need for protection against the virus. I've been reliably informed that notification will take about two weeks (My Wife ) I guess upon reflection It's better to be safe than sorry, who knows which vaccine will be on offer at least I've got some time to do a bit more research. Cheers Itsa

Let's face it; that's all the yearly flu vaxx does as well...... By using the Sinovac/Astrazenica combo for the majority; hi-so's excluded, it makes a lot of sense. Surely it will then be much easier to check any adverse reactions i.e. batches, injection centres etc. and correlate data not only current, but into the future as well; rather than the idiocy and too-ing and fro-ing being carried out in other places around the world. I had the first Astra Zeneca jab in early June. The day after I had the jab I was quite tired and napped most of the day, the day after that I felt as if I was coming down with a cold/flu but that feeling subsided by the end of the day. I am due to have my second jab in early September, The second dose will be Astra Zeneca as well. I am in Australia! Nothing sinister to report!

I've had both AstraZeneca vaccines - while I'm in Oz for me it was an informed decision after discussion with gp, pharmacist and specialist. Preferred option for me due to other specialised medications. No real side effects other than a slightly sore arm the next day and a sore throat a week later both times.

I also had the AZ while I am here, and had no side affects whatsoever, however I must disclose the fact that I had the jab mid afternoon prior to wine O’clock, whether that had any bearing on the results I am not knowing.

A mate in Oz has also had his first Astra onemore , without any side effects. When not working he's a carton a day man and reckoned it'd be a brave vaccine of any description that'd want to take that on. His jab was during his break as a teacher. Cheers bear

Currently sitting in observation at Nakornping hospital Mae Rim after 1st shot of Sinovac, 2nd shot in three weeks; Astrazenica. Hey Bear, The 7.30 report on the ABC just had something about Sinovac and how it it okay in the short term, but immunity drops off after a couple of months. Plus how it is not effective for the Delta variant, which is the currently dominant strain. People in Indonesia are in deep trouble because of this as they are getting Sinovac. Don't go thinking you are well-protected and do anything rash in the next 3 weeks, mate. And in light of all that, I'd recommend a second AZ shot 12 weeks after the first.

Agree with everything you've said latindancer From what I've read, the rationale with second shot in three weeks is you get a much higher and longer lasting immune response, I'll be keeping a close eye on developments about that, and have no intention of doing anything rash for the foreseeable future with the insidious way this thing is spreading to the North and how numbers are still climbing daily here. Registration for Pfizer has just come online in the last couple of days as well. Great you may very well say......... but maybe not so great if you need to travel and overight in Bangkok to receive it, then do 14 days quarantine on returning home. All of that is still to be disclosed though. Thanks for looking out for me mate; cheers bear Daily case numbers:- This the difference in numbers just one week is making; plus placing quite a lot of extra provinces into dark red zones and making 22 more into red zones as well.
