I’ve just lost a friend to this in Bali, he decided to stay but unfortunately it was the wrong decision. He didn’t want the vaccine. It was impossible for family to get him any help at all in the public system. They eventually got him into a private hospital, organ failure and then the ventilator and it was all over within two days. Now they have to fund raise to pay the hospital as he had no insurance. He was quite healthy and fit and 77 years old. All the family are in Oz so it’s impossible to sort things out in Bali. It’s a terribly distressing mess for them. This Delta is a whole different ball game it seems. This is a complete, total and absolute nightmare administratively for the family here, they are grieving but there is no time as the hospital want payment and they have to also pay for his cremation etc. I feel so sorry for them. Don’t take this the wrong way but I encourage all of us to make sure people know what to do, who to contact etc if something like that happens to us. These friends of mine are not educated in Indonesian laws etc and it’s a nightmare to watch the struggle.

My wishes have been made very plain... Death>cremation>ashes into Mekong. (They'll probably go into our local river where some will reach the Mekong eventually).

I have only recently made a new will stating my wishes. It was in a similar format to the will kits from the newsagents in Oz, though bought online from a Thai legal firm and in both languages, witnessed by staff from the condo office and accountancy firm in my building and stamped as well. Similar requests as Banjo with no need for anyone to contact Oz...... Cheers bear

You reckon these would be mostly Astrazeneca mate? Banjo - I think a mix of both, given that AZ was preferred for the older cohort and rolled out in aged care settings to those who wanted it earlier this year in NSW and for those who have underlying conditions who are over 50.

So sorry also Ann as I just got news that a good friend who usually spends the winter here in Thailand for 6 months for last 20 or more years just passed away in Germany from it. Moses was as nice a man as you would ever meet. A mix of Indian, German & English who looked Indian. He was in mid 80s and still riding a bicycle on his last visit in 19. Many others who turn up to our drinking table every year that I have no idea about also. Of varied ages. It really is this generations world war.

I had my first shot Tuesday, I had been booked for Moderna vax but it was delayed, possibly until January, so I pointed out to my minders that due to my age and health I was high risk so my private hospital in Chiang Rai was rang on Monday and I received a next day appointment, receiving Sinovax and an appointment for an AZ in 4 weeks. I'll probably still take the Moderna as a booster next year.

I had my first Pfizer in Chiang Mai and the 2nd next week. Due to some inside info. There were 200 doses a day for 2 days only for ex pats at a Chiang Mai hospital. All for free. So beer with bear will be on the agenda also I suspect as I missed him last time as went there and back the same day for the 1st one. Little 3 day break this time.

I'm happy for you both, so long as your vaccines are recognised globally and you can get in to wherever you want. Two of the same type seem to be one of the prerequisites for that to occur. Recognition of the production facility and where you received the jabs others..... Like Banjo will be getting, I've also had the Sinovac/Astrazenica combo; which is a step up from Sinovac/Sinovac to be sure. Those lucky ticket winners are now eligible for an Astra booster; something I'm hoping to avail myself of within a couple of months. Ironically during the interim between shots an Astra/Astra combo became available and just a week after being double jabbed the much vaunted and lauded Pfizer. Talk about luck of the draw!! Cheers bear

Initially, I was supposed to get the Johnson and Jansen vac which would have suited me under normal circumstances, but after doing some research I found out that Australia was accepting Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca only? I think that it was aussiebernie who put me right about the availability of vaccines for foreigners here in the Philippines and possibly saved me a lot of heartache in the near future, so thanks mate much appreciated.
Best wishes for a safe and healthy future to all my friends and family.
God bless Itsa
