Hey Bear, those screw things to crack macadamias are a slow way to crack them. I find the fastest way to be a heavy hammer....not a light one. If you use an ordinary claw hammer, you have to hit them quite fast and if you are holding them, you can hurt your fingers badly. A heavy hammer, having more weight, only needs to be used slowly. Somehow you have more control. I have used my heavy hammer for macadamias for about 30 years. Have never hurt my fingers. It also helps to hit them about ten degrees off the little mark on the top where the stem went in. Or the corresponding place on the bottom.
