Increase to payment rates for some working age and student payments
From 20 September 2023, the payment rate of some working age and student payments will increase by $40 a fortnight.
This is in addition to the Consumer Price Indexation (CPI) increase on the same date.The changes will start from 20 September 2023. You may not get the full increase in your first payment after this date. You’ll get the increase if you get JobSeeker Payment or Youth Allowance for job seekers. But not if you’re a single principal carer of a dependent child and have a mutual obligation requirements exemption. If you get ABSTUDY Living Allowance you’re also eligible, except if you’re:a student under 16 in tertiary education a student studying a Masters or Doctorate a Residential Costs Option recipient. You’ll also get the increase if you’re getting Disability Support Pension and you:
are under 21 years of age have no dependent children. The increase also applies to the following payments:Parenting Payment Partnered Youth Allowance for Students and Australian Apprentices Austudy ABSTUDY Living Allowance Special Benefit Disaster Recovery Allowance New Zealand Disaster Recovery Allowance Farm Household Allowance.
