As I've mentioned before i've sold up here in Iloilo City Philippines and heading to Manila NCR soon. It's been a while since I've been there and while it's the most expensive place in the Philippines there are still good deals to be found. Found a semi furnished airconditioned studio unit near the iternational airport for P2500 Pesos a month plus P400 Pesos electricity and P100 per head water. So P3000 per month Total or A$82.26 A bloody bargain! I thought I would be hard pushed to find accommodation especially in the NCR for that price. You beauty!
According to the.owner they have a high.vacancy rate and having a hard time finding tennants.
All while there is a housing crises and homelessness back home due to affordability.
Go back to Australia they said? Yeah, nah mate.
Cheers
J

That is a bargain JJJ88 . My dad always reckoned change is as good as a holiday...... The semi furnished condo I rent in Chiang Mai costs Bht3,100 p/m including water plus averaged out yearly leccy bill of Bht750 p/m. Aud$162.42 p/m. It's on 11th floor, walking distance to rail & mail and easy 5 -15 min commute to the bus station and into the old city, with street food, restaurants and 7/11 50-100m away. The airport and immigration is half hour or so, virtually next door to each other. I'm lucky to have it and think could be hard pressed to find better in today's climate. Cheers 🐻

I always wanted to see the mountains, places like the Karakoram Highway. We have a member who regular spends time in northern India as well, very similar country.
I have quite a few guide ebooks on the region that I can link people to if they are interested.

Where I am in Argao I pay about AUD$190/month rent and about AUD$100/month for electricity and water plus about AUD$50/month for internet. All calculated at PHP34/AUD$1. The house is one of 2 stand alone houses on the block and the back yard has banana trees, coconut palms and others. Just found it on Street View - Flora's Store. My place is the yellow painted one. I just tried that link to Flora's Store and had to say I wanted to proceed... but it is a google map place.

No street view for mine, it's next to the highlighted cross, blue roof. No rent, I built it 20 years ago, about $30,000 to move in. Must be the end of the dry season, it's usually all lawn to the front gate. The trees are either longans or lychees with bamboo grown for the shoots daown the right hand side,

LOL bearI've had a couple of members call in during the last 10 years and 1 lived in Argao for a time. That photo was taken just prior to Typhoon Rai/Super Typhoon Odette which hit us in December 2021. I'll get another photo and put up in a day or 2.

JJJ88Argao is on the east coast about midway down the island and Cebu City is about 2+ hours away by bus. I don't like city living and Argao is a good balance between the mountains and the city. In the early years of living here I did consider Santander, Cebu which is on the southern tip of Cebu island and just across the sea from Dumaguete which has an immigration office for visa renewals and a fairly active expat community.
