;D well done Spacey, some substantial back pay from memory there are some fine people at C/L , its a bit of a gamble No, not a substantial amount. That would have only been had we gone for the whole period he has been unable to work. They started it from a date last month, when they processed our request for it, but then had never received anything from. C/L must have had to wait for the JCA's report to be lodged, before they could confirm and finalise it. Thanks though Zorro.

Surgery wait lists to blow out on Gold CoastPUBLIC patients could wait more than three years for routine surgery as the ailing Gold Coast Health District cuts costs in an attempt to balance its budget. Several doctors have compared the future of health on the Coast to Third World countries. The Bulletin has learned that pressure to cut costs has compromised patient care. A specialist doctor said the other impact on patients would be a blow-out in waiting lists for routine elective surgery, which was already suffering. Australian Medical Association Queensland president Dr Richard Kidd said category three patients were being rejected outright before being put on waiting lists. Last year the Bulletin revealed the Gold Coast Hospital was rejecting category one and two patients. Health Minister Geoff Wilson stepped in and ordered all patients be seen. Category one requires urgent admission within 30 days, category two is semi-urgent within 90 days and category three is non-urgent. But Dr Kidd said a condition could become urgent if patients were not even given an appointment. One doctor, who did not want to be named, said elective surgery waiting lists would `blow out big time' under budget pressure. "Elective services are just going to get absolutely pulverised. It will be a nightmare. We're pushing into a Third World system." One staffer told the Bulletin an assistant nurse was caring for four elderly patients this week when the ratio was supposed to be one-to-one. "The reason it's happened is the nurse unit manager of the ward is in trouble because she's over budget," said the source. "They're cutting costs in all areas." Dr David Lindsay, former Gold Coast Medical Association president, said the Gold Coast was not faring well. "Some of the money that we're over budget is not being spent on clinical services at all and waiting lists, the waiting lists are not getting reduced at all," he said. Queensland Health director general Dr Tony O'Connell assured the public services they expected would continue to be maintained. www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2012/02/05/388061_gold-coast-news.html

A good friend of mine died a couple of years ago of cancer. He was due a minor cancer operation, after several cancellations of his appointments to attend the Gold Coast Hospital, sometimes on the day he was due to be admitted. By the time he was admitted his body was riddled with cancer.

Yes, its disgraceful. A society that puts the dollar ahead of the people, and we continue to allow it.
It will also mean that my son is out of the workforce for much longer, while he waits for surgery. They left the tumor in his arm for so long last time, it did all sorts of damage, before it was removed. Recovery from surgery will also take much longer this time, as his muscles are already weakened and decaying.
