A friend of mine in Australia applied for his OAP three weeks ago and has never heard back from them. I will keep you all up up date about what develops. I have just spoken with my friend about this & it seems Centrelink lost his papers, So they gave him another lot & told him he had to supply his wife bank account details, all of her employment information, birth cert etc etc, some of this caused him no end of trouble. Once he got all the info together he lodged the application again, only this time the Centrelink officer told him they did not need all the paper work about his wife. So its been lodged again but he is still waiting to hear back from them. His wife is not applying for any benefit as she is still working. Any comments on this.

It appears that if you are on a Newstart allowance, like my identical twin cousin, they send you a form, 8 weeks before you qualifie for the OAP. Just tick the box to say everything that they have put on the form is right, sign it, and hope for the best. My identical twin cousin is going to report back on the situation in 2 months time.

So, it can take Centrelink 9 weeks, and having to be threatened by an outside organisation, to process one form. Two actually, since they lost the first one.
Hank J must be a real good Operations Manager!

This happened to the guy that got cancer a bit over 12 months ago, he tried to get sickness benefits but they just wanted him to go on newstart, which turned out to be more corruption by the job centre and Centrelink.
The job centre even promised to pay his car rego for 6 months so he could keep attending appointments but then a change of mind by the job centre & he was never paid.
We are dealing with a rotten pack of BASTARDS.

I was told 3 times, by 2 different people, in the job center, that the job center would pay for hearing aids for me, so it would be easier to get a job. They soon backed down when they got quotes from $3,000 to $10,000. If only people did'nt tell me so many lies, my hearing would not get damaged so much.

You can get a hearing aid off the government if you are on the DSP, I'm going to go for my test next week. www.seniorsenquiryline.com.au/Portals/0/PDF/Hearing.pdf

One must also be a resident. I would like a new artificial eye but they wont give me one on the grounds of not being a resident, bastards wont even give me a bus pass.
