I have been on the DSP since 1984.. now its 2012.. some 26 years.. I have been regularly informed the staff members name, contact number etc; that I am not be be reviewed again due to my disabilities.. they refused me to work once due to my disabilities...yet in writing to Jesus? Macklen .. her staff replied.. NOT HER..you get the DSP because you are supposed to be looking for work.. We can take it away as well as give it the letter stated, its a right the Govt give you in this country it stated..arrogant pen pushers on ridiculous salaries......out of reality... [glow=red,2,300][/glow] conflict absolute here.. they were totally arrogant in ignoring psychiatric letters from Doctors to allow me longer portability.. Its hell living in Australia on the DSP .. I suffer daily bowel and stomach pain, have the notice of assured bowel Cancer in time, have colonoscopys regularly.. am only pain free when in Thailand eating non contaminated by chemical foods and not shopping at processed Woolworth's/Cole's sh.t food in Australia..and the rip of legal merchants... cans of dog meet they are.. vegetables stored for months and years.. off in 3 days.. Stop causing us more pain.. let us travel as we wish.. we are not getting $700 a fortnight we are getting less than $200 a fortnight in real terms.. don't we pay tax on every thing we buy.. that comes back to us the next fortnight.. so cut their so called billions in welfare to millions always coming back to the govt.. People think they get a pension.. you get less than the living standard and quality of life than the worst place in Thailand.. they live..they are NOT poor these days.. we in Australia.. sold out Australia just exist and get sicker on the sh.t we eat here.. My bowel issues are due to the food sh.t we have to buy in this country.. CONTAMINATED POISONS AND OLD CRAP FROM OVERSEAS MIXED WITH OUR CRAP..

We can take it away as well as give it the letter stated, its a right the Govt give you in this country it stated..arrogant pen pushers on ridiculous salaries......out of reality... That's Newstart they are referring to. They have become deliberately confused. Then I heard that in relation to Sole Parent Pension, 'we are not paying you to stay home and look after your children, we are paying you to look for work'. And now they are applying the same phrase to those who are too sick to work, and why they are on the payment they are on in the first place. Just as with the sole parent pension, those forced into jobs where they were unable to choose a good roster, were forced to stop looking after their children, palm them off onto day care centres and grandparents, and come home too tired to cook dinner, after earning a slave's salary. We will have to give up on trying to get well, or on trying to die with some dignity, and just work until we are dead, under these new laws. I found Tony Abbots comments that people who are too irresponsible to save up for retirement to be very offensive, after having watched the stock market crashes steal most of what my parents had put away for their retirement. People are crazy to keep putting up with this crap, from the banks and our government. The employment agencies are stealing all the welfare funds. Where is all the rest of the tax money going to? We all know it is not roads and health services. We need to hold these idiots in Canberra more accountable for what they are doing. (Sorry Banjo, who doesn't like us to get political). ;D

Ok Frank, welcome to the board.
First it's 6 weeks and it comes in next year, after 1st Jan. What you need to do is decide where you want to live. If it's Australia then you need to get to work with immigration.
If it's Thailand than you need to look at your options, spend the rest of the time until you are 65 doing 6 week runs or take your chances with the new portability. You will see plenty about that here.

Errr.. ok Frank, I'll quickly point that two of our most regular posters are ladies and we have a large number visit and contribute occasionally. I can't really see a great deal of point in in depth discussions of the more carnal delights of Asia, not only is it done so much better elsewhere, google the likes of Pattaya Secrets and it's Angeles City equivalents, but it distracts from what the board was formed for, equal rights for pensioners who wish to come and go from Australia like other free citizens.
The travel section we have were started to discuss budget travel and cheap places overseas to spend time. While budget sexual services probably fall into this category I'll once more point out that it's done a lot better else where.

What is most important in our group is credibility, if we start talking about bars etc we can very quickly get depicted as a mob of sex tourists making whoopee on the taxpayer's expense account. What individuals do overseas shouldn't matter, the same as it shouldn't matter what they spend their money on in Australia... with the bounds of the law, and that means what's legal in Australia, not Thailand or the Philippines etc. As good citizens and residents of Australia we should set an example as travelers. I've removed part of your signature on your second post due to a complaint by another member.

Hi Frank, I too suffer from short term memory loss, that is why I have to write everything down. One of my problems is I make a shopping list then forget to take it with me.
So yes I do understand what you are talking about.

as a 50 yr old male I need food ready to eat, I cant cook food!
Frank have you applied for permanent portability yet?

Maybe we should have a recipe section. Something simple for men cooks, although I wield a mean saucepan when I get the urge.

Hi , I have read thru some of da 2012 assesment guidelines, an am toying with lodging my portabilty, but the letter i have rec/d from da SS has a veiled threat if i fail to reach 2o pts i can lose my DSP. The guidelines in the way they are written would make sir Humphrey from yes minister proud. It does appear every body will be down graded to 10pts , I dont know if more than one disabilty can be addded to acheive 30 pts or more. But I believe they will go out of there way too screw you. For every person they can take off DSP they save $$ an need the money for the new boat people. Hence we are the Scape Goat. You may risk the application for portabilty an end up back with some wombat from workchoices try to get u a p/time job. It may Be worth it to wait for thr change in the R'geime. (12mths) An push for our right to a normal freedom of our remaining life As DSP. to the Wombats that will take over.

Then you should be able to check what points they have you on, Are you listed as being severely disabled? In 2010 I spoke with a C/L officer from international, he told me that I had unlimited portability because I was grandfathered and in no way was I listed as being severely disabled, I argued with him that I was listed in 2002 as being Severely disabled but he would not have any part of that. Once I received my file under the FOI it was there in black & white that I was severely disabled and also grandfathered. Link for FOI. www.humanservices.gov.au/corporate/freedom-of-information/

You need 20 points under one impairment. You also get a work capacity assessment which I believe will affect whether you keep the DSP under the new rules. 0-7 hours a week is the minimum. If you get assessed at 0-7 hours you still may not have 20 points and therefore will fail the assessment.

If a DSP is granted unlimited portability, does he come under the 25 year AWLR rule?

There's a few things will have to be sorted but I suspect the same rules will apply as apply to the portability of the OAP. It's a hypothetical anyway, anyone who gets it will be too disabled to get on the plane.
