Claims against CentrelinkWe've been inundated with your emails pleading for help in a variety of cases where you need welfare assistance but Centrelink doesn't agree. It comes off the back of our story last night, where breast cancer sufferer Judith Dunbar had no luck at all with Centrelink, until we got involved. They have now reviewed her case, and Dunbar finally got a disability support pension. Other cases have come flooding in, and we'll be sending all of these to Centrelink directly. This afternoon Centrelink's general manager Hank Jongen said he was happy to look into any concerns raised by Today Tonight viewers. If you feel you are lost in the system, you can email him directly, or use the customer relations line. I'm very upset tht just because they move the goal post all the time, I cant make any long term plans. This adds considerbly to my depression and just means I cant count on Australia to take care of me if I need it. I turn 65 on Feb. 1 2014. So, only one lousy month will change my payments forever because I will have only been in Australia 25 years on that birthday. It doesn't seem fair they dont prorate just the last ten years if they must.

Just wait and see what happens there, I don't want to raise false hopes but I can sniff a certain flexibility in that. Period of Australian Working Life Residence
In relation to Australia this means a period of Australian working life residence as defined in the SS(IntAgree)Act (i.e. the period of residence in Australia between the ages of 16 and reaching age pension age).www.facsia.gov.au/guides_acts/ssg/ssguide-10/ssg_gloss/pc_14076.html

Concerning a person only having 25 years residency in Australia and thus not qualifying for a full pension after Jan 1, 2014, a possible chance around that depends on where the residency was prior to those 25 years. If it was in an agreement country, then it might be possible to combine both periods of residency to accumulate the 35 years AWLR to qualify for the full age pension.

I don't know about Today Tonight, but I had read this article recently about what A Current Affair does to people who oppose Centrelink. Affair turns nasty as ambush lands two men in hospitalANDREW Byrne, A Current Affair's supervising producer, was charming when he spoke to his target, Rod Whyte, on the telephone and in several emails over a period of almost three weeks. He first called on June 20 to say the Nine Network's prime-time show wanted to do a story on his book, an expose on Centrelink that Whyte had written after working there for 13 years. Byrne also told Whyte he wanted to interview him for a "story we are shooting about government crackdowns on welfare cheats and now the new IR laws". But the story he had in mind was more about deadbeat dads. What followed left two men in hospital, one after a suicide attempt, and raises questions about the ethics of ambush journalism. read what happened here: www.knowfirst.info/forums/showthread.php?t=6225

Trust me, that whole thing would have started with a Centrelink 'Komaandant' talking to his old mate at ACA saying "Mate, have I got a story for YOU!". As this poor guy found out the hard way, you dance with A Current Affair/ Today Tonight at your own risk! (unless your name is Hank Jongen)

I see nothing. I think Colonel Shultz is the Commonwealth Ombudsman. And Wayne Swan Commandant Klink.
Rethink: Actually Hank Jorgen looks and acts more like Colonel Klink.

That's an interesting site spacey, I might have a talk to the admin.
I loathe what the media has become... it's far worse than the state controlled outlets like Pravda was, far more insidious, because it disguises the propaganda as entertainment.
Remember the movie Star Troopers? I think that's the type of media we have to look forward to.
And aren't they ferocious in defending their turf? the first thing the Libs do when they get in is cut funding to the "left wing biased" ABC.
Thank God for the internet, but then if you start a site like Wikileaks the media howls for your execution as a terrorist and set you up on rape charges.
