That is interesting , at 30k it looks like a good buy however $135/week for site fees? that is pretty expensive but then again may be c/L would chip in with rent assistance.
I think caravan parks are perfect for pensioners due to there communal atmosphere.

NFA, you got me thinking. This is a good way to lock in residency. Its around 7k a year to pay for itself in holiday leasing which should be no problems , not that we would ever consider taking cash in hand for leasing....just sayin

I think its a great lifestlye , most of these dwellings are b y a river or sea and a warm climate. The downside is of course the 30k, so it will cost more than $135 if its a straight out rental?

LOL
Put it this way Banjo, I think that you will find that there is a lot of 'bloody minded' independent people in and around the Cairns-Townsville corridor quietly doing their own thing.
Wait until I find out where the military veterans hang out
A lot of them have fought 2 enemies, one overseas and one when they came home!
Different Departments maybe but same bureaucracy!

Zorro1,
I agree mate wholeheartedly and after holidaying in the Philippines I have no interest in going south again. With my lungs it would kill me.
If I had the money I would have been in contact with them already!
But it seemed good value and that's why I posted it here.
And if it was me I'd be asking how much without all the furnishings.
Don't forget that if there is 1 then there will be others.
If you want I can check it out after I get settled.
Cheers

What are the flights like out of Cairns costwise . . . just Denpasar or something? I lived in Ingham most of 2008, taster at a tropical fruit winery . . . free in an onsite caravan . . . used to venture across to Halifax on the coast . . . now there is a bolthole if ever I saw one. Not even any poh-leece. But you have to drive miles to anywhere. Anyway, I'd move up to Cairns if I could get some cheap return flights a couple times a year.

that is pretty expensive but then again may be c/L would chip in with rent assistance. I think caravan parks are perfect for pensioners due to there communal atmosphere. I have 6 acres of land on the banks of the Bloomfield river, located half way between Cairns and Cooktown,[ great fishing ] that is available, just pay for the rates, and start a vegie garden. Elec at road front and has bore water. There is a shop/petrol station next door and no other neighbors.

Renting a caravan would not be cheaper than renting a bedsitter. Additionally, its a crowded environment.
For a bedsit in Cairns, its doable for around $145 a week.
There seems to be a pattern here, that during the winter, apartments fill up with southern escapees, and during summer it reverses.
Its not a lot of places really. Right now on ...............realestate.com.........there are 11 places under $150 per week. Some not too bad. That number will increase to 20 odd come Jan if it follows last year's pattern.
The problem of coming to Cairns is where to stay upon arrival. There are plenty of backpacker places but its two or four to a room and that costs $25 a night.
Lowest cost motel room here is $55, good quality.
Real estate agents will not lease places to long distance applicants.
The best way would be to take a single room in a boarding house............boarding house not backpacker place and look around the place. Boarding house room would be around $125 per week if available and would be two months stay.
Anyone can pm me if they decide to come to Cairns.
Easy place to live, no need for car, but isolated in terms of cost of overseas air travel.
