I didn't receive the full amount of the pension increase - which is supposed to be 17.10 per fortnight (including the supplement); and I did calculate on a pro rata basis as it has only been 6 days since the increase. I received most of the increase, but not all. I was wondering if anyone else is in this situation? Very confusing, as the rate indexations are very clear on the website below: jennymacklin.fahcsia.gov.au/node/2051

same here...no logic to it....
similarly rental assistance varied by 30cents....
maybe someone is running a skimming operation figuring no-one is going to query.

newtodspmy rent assistance went back by $0.23....why... ?? My DSP went from $695.30 paid till 12/9/2012 to $703.65 paid till 26/9/2012...difference $8.35.... Pension supplement in same period as DSP went from $60.20 to $60.40.... Maybe the Reserve Bank is playing with the money....

Thanks guys for looking into it. Seems very odd.
All I can think of is that Centrelink is being incompetent, and they will compensate in the next payment. Otherwise I will be giving them a ring. We are entitled to the full increase! Congrats to nofixedaddress for winning the biggest increase, and sorry to hear howdo only got 2.50! What a lottery. I received an extra 6.39, I don't know the breakdown of my increase.
If anyone ends up ringing Centrelink, can they please let the rest of us know what the reason is for this madness?

All is now revealed.....
You know that pension increase from the 20th September of $17.10 per fortnight...
Well it actually starts ON 21 September, being the first day you include in your calculations.
And the increase is made up as follows, Pension $16.70 Supplement $ 0.40
Total $17.10
Only thing I'm intrigued about is that my rent assistance has decreased by $0.45.
Apparently rents are decreasing in Australia. Who knew?
That will be good news for Newstart recipients!

Its pathetic , they give a little with one hand and then take back a little with the other .

Denis-NFA, thanks for figuring that out - it works out arithmetically, however I would think an increase from 20 Sept would INCLUDE that day. Wierd stuff. What makes you say rents have decreased? carvets, you can ask Consumer Affairs for a rental inspection if you believe your rental increase to be excessive. Its a very simple process, which I always do each rent increase! I have succesfully had lower rent increases than some of my neighbours which has me pleased. Rental increases are the result of very high demand, and short supply, it's not really the government taking but rather, not intervening to make housing affordable. There is a group I have joined called Australians for affordable housing, housingstressed.org.au/ which run campaigns, but not sure how successful/well thought out they are, incase anyone is interested! Lobbying/voting is the only way to change things politically I believe.
