Want to ask a couple of simple questions. Has anyone gone for unlimited portability on this board? Or know anyone that has gone through the process? If so what what was the outcome?
Cheers

to stream,
well my take on this U/P is that it is just a carrot, i would be suprised if anyone will get it mate, but i would LIKE to see someone get it,i will have a crack at it next year,i was happy with the 13 week rule, now the 6 week will come in next year i will find that quite awkward to manage so i will bite the bullet and apply,
but if you can log on to this website or go to a C/L office your chances of getting sound low(i could be wrong on this) maybe if you arrived in an ambulance you might have a chance?? lol

Unfortunately it seems that way mate, unreal they can leave people in limbo that are actually crook. Making them scared to apply for unlimited portability, because if they do maybe they will lose the dsp maybe they will be put on new start maybe ,when they apply residency questions may be asked if they fail the unlimited portability process.
Its the maybe thing they are putting people through thats disgusting.
Its a very sad state of affairs when they obviously know some people that should have not been put on disability before ,and now they cast a wide net catching the fair dinkum ones in the crap. And now we pay for the con artists, i will be going for it u/p, if i cant get it,well as you say its a carrot. Cheers

Want to ask a couple of simple questions. Has anyone gone for unlimited portability on this board? Cheers You need to be really a vegetable to be eligible for it. If you are able to write, type, use a PC & internet, forums, it would be extremely unlikely that C/L's useless neanderthal asshole bureaucrats would grant you anything. To be eligible you have to meet the 0 hr working capacity criteria first. Had you try to apply you'd be lucky if you can retain the DSP. U/P is just a big bullshit, the gov. just want to be seen generous. And most people don't realise how the whole legislation is wrong.

Want to ask a couple of simple questions. Has anyone gone for unlimited portability on this board? Or know anyone that has gone through the process? If so what what was the outcome? Cheers I applied for the U/P in early July. It was refused in 2-3 weeks but I remained qualified for the DSP. I asked for the decision to be reviewed by an ARO and approached my local Federal MP to intervene on my behalf. I was told by them 2 weeks ago that an ARO had still not been assigned to my review and they would try to push things along. If I'm eventually successful it will be because I've spent three years on this, hundreds of letters, a successful residency SSAT appeal and a Senate submission and that's not including running this board and gleaning every morsel of information from it. The Unlimited Portability, if it is achievable by the likes of us, will NOT be achieved by sitting on ones arse complaining about the government. The only way anyone.... who is not a blind quadriplegic... is going to get it is to work for it.

Hey Banjo,
I agree mate..and quite frankly I'm hoping that your application gets run before I get all my information together and apply.
Initially, I was hoping it would only take a few months but now, it is a full time job.
As you point out.
And I am not waiting for you to provide some 'magic fix'.
I'm just hoping that you, or someone else, will have gone before me and I will learn from your experience.... ;D
And if you need support for when you finally get a hearing I will be there if you think that's appropriate.
I can be the one holding the sign that says,
"dsPensioners Pissed off with Politicians"

The key problem that U/P is actually a deterrent, the applicant is taking a huge risk, risking losing the DSP altogether. So for someone who is not close to OAP it's simply too much risk. For new applicants it's different as well, they have nothing to lose. As for the rest it's simply Russian roulette. The legislation is wrong & disgusting, period.

looking at the bright side its a big plus that Banjo was not kicked off the DSP. I think our biggest concern is not whether or not we receive permanent portability but rather, whether we get to retain the DSP if we fail as IMO that is by far the greater priority because if we get kicked down to newstart not only will our payments go down but on newstart the only travel we will do will be in our dreams!

Good luck with your appeal Banjo.
I cant understand C/L logic, that you can still have your DSP but not U/P.

The logic is very simple. They know very well that many DSP'esrs go for family visit and will overstay the 6 weeks. So that saves a bit of $$$$ for those morons in our parliament. And the other benefit for them is that some will lose the DSP when applying for UP, so that would be the ultimate saving for them. But hey, we're still better off than if we lived in the UK or worse... in Greece ;-)

Just to clarify, are we really saying that since the changes on 1 July, not one member or guest has 'been granted' U/P?
Banjo - are the reasons you were refused on this site?
If this is the case, doesn't it mean that all this work from members of this forum in line with the purpose of this forum has failed in a big way - to reduce 13 week portability to 6? I mean no insult at all, I'm just trying to get clear on the big picture.
I've returned to Australia for the purpose of 'applying' for U/P. It's not going well as I can't even access the services I need to complete the forms I was sent.
