Best steak and corned beef plus vegemite can be purchased from a butcher shop in Olongapo, Subic area. I spent a lot of time in the PI as well as other Asian countries and it always amazed me the guys who would point blank refuse to try local meat or even vegetables unless they came from the big super markets. I once had someone assure me that the local beef was all caribou (water buffalo) and inedible. Back in the day I carried 20kg of King Island fillet, then valued at $30 a kg, to Angeles City for him. I still have fond memories of the reaction of the guy at check in at Adelaide airport when I told him why that little bag was so heavy. Banjo the beef smuggler.

eightMate my days of buying beer are well and truly gone. Home made ginger beer is the go though.... ;Dand the bar fridge just takes up space now. but in my 'new' beaut fridge I have 6kg of lovely Australian Rump steak.....ahhh...heaven... it was the one thing that I missed when o/s....some decent tender juicy steak.. And just to add to that,, I have made a lot myself and used the strong plastic bottles that some lemon teas and drinks come in. They expand a bit but don't explode like glass bottles. Also if you use a wine yeast you end up with ? ginger wine.
