I think the thing is to make the system work for you. If I was to ever think of marriage, I would sponsor a rich Chinese girl who wants to live in Australia. She would need to sign a Matrimonial contract and buy me a new car [ BMW] every year until we divorced after she got her PR. This is to make up for the loss of $ from the single rate to half the married rate, and also cause she loves me [ ha ha ]

If she was rich she would need to keep you as well, C'link would scrap your pension because of her income.

A pensioner who is approaching his used by date, might attract a higher premium on the marriage sponsorship market than a younger person. After all they say "age does not matter", but it might if one will be around too long.
Divorce is so easy in Australia today that that is not an issue.
Personally, I have had lots of "marriage opportunities" but none from anyone with any money.
A boat fare costs $10.000, so an arranged sponsorship is worth at least that.
Just call it a "dowry payment". That should make it legal..............plus costs of course.

Marriage equals half-death. I've owned 2 houses on paper, 2 wives on paper, and had 2 huge book collections (on paper). Since going on the DSP a few years back I lost all that. But I joined a library, and still have the books when I want them. In Pattaya you can join a library too. As long as you are a "good [ATM] man". But marry? That is now an outmoded concept for DSP expats I would say.

Him: I buy houses for women.

I agree Banker... Why Think Family.... ;D And for those that wonder about it, this is the form that Centrelink will get you to fill out if you even hint that you have a relationship overseas... www.humanservices.gov.au/spw/customer/forms/resources/aus203-1005en.pdfI got pinged in May 2012 for Residency, after my 2nd consecutive holiday overseas, and pinged at the same time for being in a Relationship. I immediately disputed both Centrelink claims and at my ARO, on my return to Australia, the officer did not reverse the original May non-resident assesment, it was overturned because of a change in circumstance and I had continued to be paid the DSP, but completely negated the May 2012 finding that I had ever been in a relationship from the first ever visit overseas (May 2011). I only ever went overseas to have a Carer (housekeeper) because I could not look after myself properly in Australia and no one else would, nor assign me care, so I said I contracted, which I did, with a person overseas.
