Fedup: Now I fully understand your frustrations brother and apologise for my ignorance for assuming you had not been for it, and yes they only rang me to tell me I had been grated"IP" after I had rung them 3 times and had heard confirmation already! Its not their policy to respond they said; I felt like choking someone but held my tongue. When you next appeal or resit the JCA, maximize & overplay all of your disabilities mate; because it seems the only way to beat the pricks! I will send you IM how and what I done the week of my JCA! Never give up brother and keep on fighting hard, like we did when young or on the footy field remember? The Psychologist will help you tremendously, and I never thought that would ever help me; how wrong I was, and it has even allowed me to offer the advice I try to now. Dont get me wrong, if an arehole upsets me as happened in a recent post, I react; we are men afterall. But keep your mind together brother and share with the Psych, because I am sure there are many who love you and wish you to hang around, Ok Brother? I know what you mean by dancing; I take more hits than I give now; but still like to have smoko if their eating lunch; if you know what I mean:)) I for one owe you because the "Ombudsman Link" was a real settler for me, so thanks for that find, Fedup! Be safe and keep on smiling:)) Cheetal... Terry: Wisdom is acquired with age as you know Terry and were all wise, some of us just know how to shuffle words around to sound like they make sense, I am simply one of those! I think those with disabilities and after suffering great sorrow and hardship throughout life, tend to learn from life's lessons and have advice to share; so therefore, to help a person in need is only doing our duty as human beings, don't you agree mate? Thanks for the kind words Terry, and there are a few on this site that could learn from your wisdom, with your polite courteous way! My greatest distaste here on this site, is that I watch,read and see a few and I am glad its only a few; who beat there own drum and only chat within a small group, and never show courtesy to anyone but that group. So your comments and remarks here today Terry, almost vindicate my sarcastic and somewhat vitriolic attack on that person just before! Thanks once again mate, and hope to be able to help or advise if ever needed by you? Be safe and a simple sentence such as you just wrote elevated my mood again:)) Thanx Champ.... Cheetal...

I love my antidepresents, my one's help with my PTSD too. I stopped them 2 years ago "feeling all brave" probably because I was still on them when I made that decision lol. After nearly 2 years I started to notice that I was a little PSYCHO & recently went back onto better one's. I call them my happy pills. But now I'm suspended I don't have the money to pay for them & Mel the PSYCHO is slowly creaping back GRRRR My point, if they work & anyone who needs them, please don't be stupid like me & go off them or not try because dealing with all this stuff can be & is really heavy, these people at centrelink don't seem to understand our lives & families are often in their hands & don't seem to realize or just don't care about that when they use incorrect & inconsistent ways to make bad decisions & cause appeals etc etc. This treatment so many people receive would send the most sane, patient, relaxed person in the world into mind spaces we didn't know we had. On top of it all we are dealing with our disabilities & their effects too. Losing it at them only hurts us in the end as they will use that against us too so take the pills if ever you need & fight them as best you can.

Mel, going off your meds can be very dangerous. Just a though you could contact Lifeline or one of the other organizations explain your position and ask them if they can supply (Pay for) your meds.
Failing this as I too suffer from Depression and walking does wonders for me. I have not taken any anti depressants since 2003, most likely the cause of me being a little crazy at times.

Now let's try and get to the bottom of this,once and for all?below is a prerequisite to obtaining the DSP OK do we agree? ?? THEIR words not ours,OK? So I will say this on this board for The last time OK This sentence in THEIR OWN WORDS SHOULD MAKE NULL AND VOID THE 15hr RULE WHICH IS THE MAJOR STUMBLING BLOCK FOR ULP Once again in plain English ,it states you CANNOT get the DSP without these BASIC conditions Right or Wrong? ?? NOT BEEN ABLE TO WORK 15hrs or more, NOTICE anything under 15hrs is NOT addressed,8-15hrs Under THEIR DETERMINATION,NOT MEDICAL,WILL see you knocked back for ULP,0-7hrs more than likely granted,this is utter bullshit and CONTEMPTABLE a deliberate and IMMORAL hurdle which cannot be jumped.this barrier needs to be taken out,for various reasons,and we need to fight it.NO ONE IS GOING TO EMPLOY YOU FOR UP TO 15hrs,EVEN IF YOU COULD WORK,which most can't ,The easy way around this crap IS,ALL THOSE ON DSP ARE DEEMED NOT ABLE TO WORK AND GRANTED ULP,FULLSTOP,Those with partial ability to work placed on NewStart or whatever with support,You are either disabled or you are not. Sick of this garbage. Ambiguous legislation,idiots who don't even know the legislation little lone have the ability to interpret it,even Lawyers steer clear of it as it is a predetermined minefield. Out of date information and legislation been used instead of current updated information. Ignoring facts,IGNORING and OVERULING medical PROOF UNQUALIFIED ASSESSORS ONLY ONE disability addressed unable to work, or to be retrained for work, for 15 hours or more per week at or above the relevant minimum wage within the next two years because of your impairment www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/services/centrelink/disability-support-pensionFed up alright Totally had a fitful of imbeciles,LIERS,and apathetic politicians,speaking of which ,WHO MEANS TESTS THESE PARASITES,AND WHAT ARE THEIR PORTABILITY RULES???,some of them. CAN AQUIRE A PENSION AFTER SEVEN YEARS IN POLITICS,AND STILL WORK,LET'S START GETTING REAL HERE. PARASITIC LEECHES ALL OF THEM

Lets look back over it.
Here's the ministerial press release:
Who will be affected by this Budget measure?
People who receive Disability Support Pension (DSP) and who have a permanent disability and who have no future work capacity will be affected if they wish to leave Australia for more than 13 weeks.
To be eligible, a DSP customer must be assessed as having a permanent disability and also assessed as having no future work capacity. These assessments must be completed in Australia, prior to departure and may involve a medical review. Who will not be affected by this Budget measure?
Any DSP customer not meeting the eligibility criteria will be unaffected and remain subject to existing portability rules. Is it a new measure that will affect existing Portfolio customers or people? If so, how will they be affected?
Yes. Existing DSP customers who are assessed as having a permanent disability and no future work capacity will be payable overseas indefinitely. When will the changes be implemented?
Answer: The measure is expected to commence from 1 July 2012. When will the changes end?
Not applicable. How will I know if I am eligible for this Budget measure?
If you think you may be eligible, contact Centrelink and ask for advice. From 1 July 2012, Centrelink will assess your eligibility as part of a pre-departure interview and will advise you of your eligibility. Do I need to do anything?
It is in your interest to notify Centrelink as early as possible of your travel plans. This will allow time for Centrelink to assess your entitlements, organise a work capacity assessment and any necessary medical reviews. The work capacity assessment, including any medical review, must be conducted in Australia before departure. If I am eligible for this Budget measure, will there be changes to my obligations or reporting requirements?
Generally, normal DSP obligations and reporting requirements will remain unchanged. Customers who depart Australia will be required to update their contact details with Centrelink. If the Budget measure involves a payment, when/how will it be paid?
The basic rate of DSP will not change under this measure. Some supplementary payments, such as Pension Supplement, will be affected if DSP customers remain outside Australia for more than 13 weeks.
For extended periods outside Australia, the frequency of DSP payments will change from fortnightly to every four weeks. Payments will continue to be made directly to customers’ nominated bank account. What does ‘no work capacity’ mean?
Eligibility criteria for meeting the ‘no work capacity’ test are yet to be defined. Centrelink will provide information once they become available.
And this is from the Bill:
1218AAA Unlimited portability period for disability support pension—severely impaired disability support pensioner
(1) The Secretary may make a written determination that a particular person’s maximum portability period for disability support pension is an unlimited period, if all of the following circumstances (the qualifying circumstances ) exist:
(a) the person is receiving disability support pension;
(b) the Secretary is satisfied that the person’s impairment is a severe impairment (within the meaning of subsection 94(3B));
(c) the Secretary is satisfied that the person will have that severe impairment for at least the next 5 years;
(d) the Secretary is satisfied that, if the person were in Australia, the severe impairment would prevent the person from performing any work independently of a program of support (within the meaning of subsection 94(4)) within the next 5 years.
And we all know what we got.
