well i would just like to say it was good to see all the gov savings on 6 week rule and mothers back 2 work go up in smoke last night,6.6million dollars,happy new year pollies.

Don't worry about it, there would have been a million tourists there who would have spent more than $6.60 each in the first pub. That type of thing is the least of the taxpayers worries, to be honest I'd rather watch ten minutes of fireworks than two hours of Grand Prix.

Totally agree Banjo....
I lived right on the edge of Lygon Street Carlton and the City of Melbourne and The first Parliament House of The Commonwealth of Australia back in 190? whatever. You look it up.
When the firquin Grand Pricks was running the firquin noise reverberated throughout the entire City of Melbourne and adjacent suburbs.
But they used to block parts of Lygon Street off and every team that was serious would have a Team Tent and you could look at historic racing cars and occasionally catch a suggestion that a real driver was in such and such a location.... firquin whatever....
It was a circus.... and people felt good toward each other.....
And the benefit to the economy would have been enormous.
I am going to get my Certificate IV in Train the Trainer, or whatever they call it these days.

And the gummint will pay me to go overseas and talk you all into coming back to Australia so they can stop paying you.
