True, when I said the law was black and white, I meant it was to me, it will never be to Centrelink. They will continue to interpret as they please, treating each case individually, and only relinquishing control over recipients after a bitter struggle.

Thanks all round for the previous advice. I see today further discussion on another thread here about this 2 year 'before or after' OAP. dspoverseas.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=conversation&action=display&thread=180&page=1From what I read here and on other forums, you are often suspected of either living O/S if you are a frequent traveller OR suspected of intending to live O/S, if your Immigration record shows departures to a common destination on a regular basis. With some months to go before I can even apply, I guess it now becomes a 'wait & see' and I'll certainly report back. On the face of it, from what I've been told during two conversations with their International Centre in Tasmania, I should not be concerned. However it's not hard to be suspicious after reading the type of issues some have in just getting their TRUE circumstances across to an officer who could not care less and is under pressure to be as tight as possible. Again, from what I've been told, persons in my circumstance, very often succeed on appeal, but who wants to go through that inconvenience anyway. Is there a thread currently running here on just what payment one is entitled to as an OAP of course related to different eligibility criteria? Today, reading through some of the threads here, it becomes apparent that 'they' are often not up-front on just what you are entitled to as regard total payment! I often hear radio commercials in this town from organisations claiming to be able to tell you exactly what OAP payment one is entitled to, but imagine you pay dearly to find out your great 'pot of gold' and then you have to front the desk again to argue!

Don't OAP payments depend on other income, and to a certain degree, assets? www.centrelink.gov.auYour Age Pension payment is calculated under both the income and assets tests. The test that results in the lower rate (or zero) will apply.Single up to $146 less than $1,578.20 Couple (combined) up to $256 less than $2,415.20 Assets are mainly about your house and cash in the bank. www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/payments/chartab.htm#a

I imagine you are correct and the links spell out what are the supposed actualities.
But I'm fairly sure I've read on the threads here to do with DSP and I know it's a fact even with Newstart, that there are in place 'some' entitlements which are applicable to 'some' individuals depending on their circumstances, which are not readily publicised. Hence these radio commercials which are quite frequent on some radio stations pushing the line about "Are you being paid exactly what you are entitled to from Centrelink"
Maybe these companies are in it for a fast $ and can really do nothing for you anyway!
I don't know, that's why I asked.

I must confess I've never heard of such a thing, but then I rarely listen to commercial radio, even when in Australia. I'd be curious to know who's involved here, could you give them a non-committal ring and find out a bit more? Be careful not to pass on any personal details.

Melaus, Im on the OAP transferred last November from DSP my payment is $1,357.20 every four weeks. Exact same payment I got on DSP. If your overseas and they have stolen your residency like they did with me that is the only payment you receive NO concessions. If you travel back to Australia every 13 weeks I think you will still get your concessions. I hope this hasnt confused you. Cheers Banker

A child would tell you that anything that has strings attached is NOTHING BUT A CON, PERIOD. Don’t insult our intelligence. Australian Old Pension…... is just that “OLD AGE PENSION) , the word spells it out, don’t attach any bull shit, no loop holes, no ifs & buts, no trickery, especially if one lived and worked in the country continuously for over 30 years. (Scrap the two year ruling), 20,30 or 40 years in the country is far greater then 2 years, don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand that. Centre link and Politicians must come to their senses, and “CALL A SPADE A SPADE” they already have a rotten reputation , they invented corruption, now they want us to follow in their foot steps and then wonder why people rot the system.
God bless Australia
