The Great Old Age Pensioner’s Money Recycling Scam.Once upon a time people grew old gracefully, when they couldn’t look after themselves their children built on a granny flat. Did you know where the term “granny flat” came from? It used to be a flat you put granny in. Amazing eh, how these old words came about. Now, if granny slows up a bit she sells her house, pays out big dollars for a serviced unit in a nursing home which takes all her pension, plus a little bit extra every month to take care of any savings she may have. When the old darling finally goes to her well deserved rest the family have to pass the hat to pay for the funeral. We’ve been conned into this you know, the government always had a duty of care to the old and sick. It’s what we paid our taxes for. Now there’s all this crap about an aging population, how much it will cost the taxpayer to take care of them, so they should have to bear the brunt of taking care of themselves. Helloooo?? We were and still are taxpayers. What’s more a pensioner pays 10% of his total income in tax, that’s 10% of GST on everything they don’t save, and who saves on the pension? You spend it, you pay tax. So what happens, if you have any assets at all, the government, or their crony run nursing homes, want every cracker before you drop off the perch. It’s going to be a lucky kid that sees a cent in inheritance I can tell you. I’ve formulated a plan, if you’re lucky enough to reach a time of life where it’s all getting a bit hard and still have some assets, or even some money, sell up and spend it. Take a cruise, lots of luxury type stuff, and spend the rest on the kids. Don’t give it to them, they’ll only blow it on the pokies, exert that last little bit of control and buy them a new washing machine or something. Then, when you’re down to your last few hundred, donate everything except the clothes you wear to the Salvos, go down to a bikies pub, and buy a gun. You think you know what I’m going to say don’t you? I doubt it. Take the bus to Parliament house and plug your politician of choice. If you’re naturally kind hearted try not to hit any vital organs, but let’s face it, it doesn’t really matter. Surrender peacefully to the nearest police officer and prepare yourself to spend your final days in a government funded bed, eating three square meals a day with all the health care you require. I believe you may have to struggle along without satellite TV but you can’t have everything. Get in soon, when word of this gets out they could run out of politicians very quickly. www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw-act/pensioners-forced-to-sell-the-house-to-get-a-bed/story-e6freuzi-1225991969123www.heraldsun.com.au/news/national/elderly-face-aged-care-sell-up/story-e6frf7l6-1225992013271www.probonoaustralia.com.au/news/2011/01/major-overhaul-proposed-aged-carem.news.com.au/NSWACT/fi656019.htm

Go Banjo!
That's what I like to hear, some talk of revolution, and making the pollies pay for what they have done to this country and its people.
Their youth allowance and 'unreasonable to live at home' for teenagers crap, has assisted to break down the family unit. Another reason why there are no more granny flats being built, we are all encouraged to abandon our kin, to move away to find work, and become selfish with our earnings, as their is nothing to left to spend or give.
Families starting out in life have little chance of paying off their house before they die. And their parents cannot help them out, when like you say, they are fleeced of any inheritance they might have been able to pass down.
The Australian way of life of taking 20 years to pay off your home, and then will it to your children to give them a head start, is long gone. The years after that of saving for your retirement, so you can buy a van and travel the country, also gone. The only way to do this now, is to exchange the home you bought, to get the van and travelling funds.
Mandatory super funds really worked well. What people could have saved for a rainy day, or retirement, was taken by the government to be put into these 'managed' funds, only to be stolen later by their greedy banker and stock market raiding buddies.
It is time to send the government a message. We are not working to provide you with an extravagant lifestyle, we are doing it for ourselves and family.
Best post I have read for ages, on any forum! Three cheers.
PS. When I buy a gun, it will be to defend myself and children from the gangsters the police allow to roam the streets and attack the elderly and the vulnerable. The police prefer to spend their time handing out traffic tickets to honest citizens, that way they are in no danger of being beat up or shot, trying to arrest the people who really deserve it.

OK, just had a Skype message from someone who thought it was a bit over the top. It doesn't really have to be a politician... you know that overgrown adolescent down the street who vandalised your car, graffitied your fence and abused you for notgiving him a hand out? Let him have it, right where he intends further polluting the gene pool from!

This topic was written in anger this morning but maybe we need a bit of controversy to show people we are serious, how angry we get. People like us who made our homes in Asia stand to lose everything, if we go back many will be unable to take their wives even if they want to go, it's a very dreary future some of us are looking at. We made the decision to leave Australia under the old rules, now they say there's a loop hole that needs closing. We never made the loop hole, they did.
Some days I don't feel like being a nice guy.

Banker .re money recycling scam..............Please refrain from using that word 'scam' don't you realise that the politicians need our money, otherwise they will have to take cuts in their own overloaded pension scheme. Be fair now, they have to make all the tough decisions for our good.

Their own overloaded pension scheme with full portability, that's what really hurts. They can live anywhere in the world and keep their nose in the trough.

Political cowardice makes all of us pay Previous attempts to get the elderly to unlock the wealth in the family home to help pay for aged care have ended in spectacular failure - thanks partly to fear campaigns stoked by federal Labor in opposition. Now Julia Gillard faces the same political dilemma that spooked John Howard - a study, this time from the Productivity Commission, reaches the same conclusion as a mountain of others: people should contribute more to the costs of their own aged care, whether in nursing homes or in the community. The Productivity Commission's final report is to be released on Monday. It is not expected to differ radically from its published draft. That report made a compelling case for people with the means to bear more costs of aged care, not necessarily through selling the family home but from converting housing wealth into an income stream through a government-backed reverse mortgage-type scheme. They could choose to pay towards residential care with a bond or a daily charge. One of my defining comments at my UP interview came when I was asked why I wanted to go overseas (and I never once mentioned where I was going to).
I said, "because I cannot understand them and they cannot understand me so we get on fine."
