I've just go back from a six week trip up the east coast, it could be the last chance I get to see a bit of Australia and it killed some time while I'm waiting for my OAP to cut in. It was a reminder of how expensive Australia is, travel accommodation is off the scale, $65 a night is a cheap motel and good luck finding one at that price. Stop for a meal and lunch and a drink will set you back as much as $15-$20, I found it far cheaper to stop at a supermarket and get fruit, a packet of biscuits and a drink out of their fridge. So long distance Aussie travel is not really an option for pensioners unless you have surplus funds. I had a house sit for most of the time in one of the countries most beautiful towns and the time went too quickly.... especially with the cheap mangoes and pomelo sold in the local street stalls. So many thanks to all the members I met along the way, a meal here, a bed there, a coffee somewhere else, my eternal gratitude. Scallywag, Cheetal, Hypoman, RedDingo, Roxane, Peter it was great to put faces to names and enjoy your hospitality. LatinDancer, sorry I missed you.... another time.

It's easy to say we don't love our country because we want to spend so much time away but the reasons are obvious even to the most simple minded and the rest of the world is beautiful too.
I love a sunburnt country, A land of sweeping plains, Of ragged mountain ranges, Of droughts and flooding rains. I love her far horizons, I love her jewel-sea, Her beauty and her terror The wide brown land for me!

And it was "Great" to meet you also Boss; but I'll never mention paint-brushes around you again, because I turned around with them in hand and I saw you disappearing down the street; LoL:) Good to see you made it home unscathed old mate:) Cheers Boss...
